It would take several years (like with Capela), but certainly not now. Curry is the reason that Draymond Green will be in the HOF.
Lol what shooters did he play with here? You act like Rockets put together some dream team around him. Harden makes scrubs look good. And Oubre and Wiggins aren't even scrubs... Wiggins is shooting 39% from three this year and playing elite defense. He'd easily be one of the best teammates Harden ever had... Green would be the perfect outlet for Harden when they run double teams at him at half court. Another player who can actually make a play would be an upgrade over the trash bigs we had. Also don't kid yourself. I love CP3 but even when he played that year he was awful. He wasn't anywhere close to 100% healthy.
Seriously? We had plenty of above average shooters when Harden was here. Chandler Parsons, Patrick Beverley, Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, Jason Terry, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, and PJ Tucker. Oubre is a scrub this year. Here's what you fail to understand. Defenses ran double teams at Harden near halfcourt because they knew the Rockets didn't have anyone to take advantage of it, and they also knew that Harden was unlikely to reinsert himself into the play.
All this MVP chatter for Curry is biased. Harden scored 30+ pts for 32 games straight in 2019 while also dropping double digits rebounding and assist with a winning record. And he got snubbed out of MVP that year. Bless Harden with players like Clay, Green and Durant and he will win the championship every year. Hell CP3 and Russ were also injured many games during the season and Harden still carried the team to playoffs.
Dead eye marksmans who shot 0-27 in the most important game of Hardens career. Great shooters...... Not to mention we were talking about 18-19 season when most of those guys were gone. Harden has proven he can play with anyone and make the playoffs. That warriors team would be no worse than the 4 seed especially with all the other top teams hurting through injuries.
As a Rocket fan it felt like he missed the whole season because he was absolute garbage all year. Couldn't even beat anyone off the dribble and honestly Austin Rivers might have been better than him that season. Rockets actually played better when all those guys were injured... If CP3 played that year like he did the last two he would still be here. He definitely looks healthier. Also don't forget Harden took this team to the second seed and WCF.. With Dwight out half the games... The warriors team is definitely better than this team.. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2015.html
So it's your contention that 2019 CP3 was on par with 2019 Austin Rivers...... This looks like the same supporting cast that overcame a huge 4th quarter deficit in an elimination game with Harden on the bench....
I dunno what you are asking me. Chris Paul obviously is a much better player than Austin Rivers. Just because of how much smarter he plays. If healthy it's no question CP3 is the the greatest point guard in nba history by advanced stats. I love Chris Paul and was really sad to see him leave. But he fell off a cliff that year and it's the only season where his PER was below 20. I don't think he was ever fully healthy and him playing was hurting us more. Because he still demanded touches and couldn't capitalize while Austin Rivers just stood around and watched the James Harden show and played defense... So Austin Rivers was a worse player but a better fit that season.
Were we? It's hard to tell based on how you framed the question. And Harden shot less than 25% from the 3pt line against GSW in 2018. Sorry, but this statement is simply ignorant. Harden would neuter Draymond Green on offense, and Oubre is playing like a scrub this year. Wiggins is doing well, but his minutes would be staggered with Harden's. Using your logic, I could say that Curry has proven that he can win titles if he's teamed with a future HOFer. Therefore, he would've won a title with CP3. And Dwight. And Westbrook.
I'm simply pointing out the glaring flaw in your argument. You can't say that the Rockets went 31-10 with Harden and "g-talent" if CP3 was playing. That means you consider 2019 CP3 to be "g-talent". Also, it's idiotic to think that Austin Rivers was a better fit than CP3 under any circumstance.
Lol impossible because CP3 got hurt. Harden woulda won it also.. Curry is also trash in the playoffs and constantly bailed out by his teammates. He's never even gotten a finals MVP and had one of the biggest choke Jobs in finals history. Harden neutering Draymond on offense means nothing. Harden is the greatest offensive player in league history. He doesn't need offense to win. Draymond defense woulda been so far superior to anything we have had and that's where his impact has always been. Harden can lead any offense to top 5 efficiency because he's the greatest ISO player the league has ever seen. Josh Smith shoots just about as well as Draymond and was fine next to Harden. Because everyone's touches are limited. Why would they stagger Wiggins minutes with Harden? That makes no sense, Rockets philosophy has always been play your 5 best guys even if they all under 6 feet 5.
You have me mixed up with other poster. Wasn't me who said that. Honestly isn't that far fetched cuz the Rockets probably had a better Record without CP3 that year than with him..
Like I said, I was simply using your logic. And while Curry's Warriors do have one of the biggest choke jobs in NBA history, Curry does have 3 titles. Then why is he so easy to game plan against in the playoffs? You really think Harden and 3 non/poor shooters would be a good lineup? Not in the playoffs. For the same reason Harden/CP3's minutes were staggered.
Tittles is such a weak arugement especially in this NBA. Anyone can just go to a super team and win. If KD came here instead of going to Golden State how many rings would the Rockets have gotten... Rings are more about luck these days than anything else. Untimely injuries to opposing teams. Historically bad shooting performances. Crooked officials always showing up in game 7. Easy to win in the big markets cuz all the players want to go there. No argument being made here is saying we would be a championship contender by any means. Just saying Harden's impact would have the Warriors much higher in the standings. Either way it doesn't matter cuz neither team would win. Harden is only easy to game plan against in the playoffs cuz teams trap him at half court and the rest of the team is trash. I want to see how they stop him this year on the Nets. Not to mention the refs just decide obvious fouls are no calls. Or just stop giving him continuation for no reason.
Draymond is good bc of what he brings on defense (alot of times allowing gsw to hide steph coincidentally) the only thing draymond brings on offense is the ability to keep the ball moving. How exactly does curry help him with that?
Keep the ball moving? Have you watched the Warriors? Green literally gets most of his assists by standing stationary near the 3pt line and waiting for his teammates to get open. Draymond Green was an elite defender for years, but his teammates made him look better than he actually was. The Warriors had plenty of plus defenders in Bogut, K. Thompson, Iguodala, Durant, and Curry. It's much easier to quarterback a strong defense when your teammates are all plus defenders. BTW, Curry was the weakest defender on the Warriors, and for that reason, he was targeted by opposing offenses, but that doesn't mean he's a below average defender. However, elite defense alone doesn't necessarily get a player into the HOF. Look at Marcus Camby...he played elite defense and led the league in blocks for several years. The same could be said for Mark Eaton. So why will Draymond Green get in? Because of his assist numbers (elite for a power forward) and the Warriors' titles. Green's assist numbers are inflated because he has the luxury of playing with Curry, the GOAT off-ball player and GOAT shooter who was the engine of those championship teams.
Again....can you explain how Harden and 3 non/poor shooters (Draymond Green, Oubre, whoever they play at center) would be an effective lineup?
jordan Poole, Juan tescano anderson, damion lee are good shooters. Oubre and Wiggins would be a younger upgrade to luc and Ariza as both would be able to play in a switching defense
Because he played with poor shooters his whole career and it was fine. Harden ISo would put them in better places on the floor to take easier shots. Maybe Draymond shoots better from corner. Or better yet why are they even playing the poor shooters. Their lineup would be Harden Bazemore who's is shooting over 40%, Wiggins shooting 39% from three. Draymond at center. And insert random dude off the street who can hit shots. Heck Austin Rivers is available. Harden is just a more versatile player than Curry defensively. Lineups can be vastly different because Harden is one of the best post defenders in the league while Curry can't play big and has to be out there with 3 non shooters. Honestly Oubre is shooting the exact same percentage as Eric Gordon did last year...
