Pretty sure I never called you a moron. I save that term for the truly moronic. They know who they are. Anyway...

Go to the Start menu and select Find. Select Files and Folders. Click on the date tab. Click the button for Files Modified in the Last ? Months. Select a number of months. When the find's done, scroll down til you find Temporary Internet Files. You've probably got a million cookies that you can't see any other way. Don't try to delete the Index, which will probably be the first one in the Temp file list. Select all the other ones (only the Temporary ones, by the way) then right click on the selected files and select Delete.

Lemme know if it works or if you have any other questions.

BJ, I went to find files or folders, hit the date bar, find modified files in last 3 months. (also did "created" in the last 3 months)

Pulled up 7000 files. After scrolling through all 7,000, there was no Temp Internet Files on there.

Hoever, the 7000 files I scrolled through looked a lot like the crap I'm trying to get rid of.

The reason why is because you don't clear your recycle bin. Right click on the trashcan on your desktop, then 'empty recycle bin'.

Chen: I've done that numerous times. That's not the issue. Thanks anyway.

KingCheetah: I've no idea. I'm completely ignorant with computers these days.

I ran into a guy with my computer today, who was a comp. tech. and he told me my computer was a little behind in technology.

It's an IBM thinkpad 600x with the OS being Win 98.

That's all I know. And the battery on this is worse than my cell phone!

Well one thing you might do is right click on start, when the menu pops up left click on explore then open up the temporary internet folder and delete everything. To do that left click on the top cookie then scroll down to the bottom hold the shift key and highlight everything and delete it that way. Then do the same to your cookies folder.
To find out how much space you have on your hardrive open the my computer folder and right click on your c: drive then left click on properties and it will show you a graph of used and available space.

I just went through a bunch of this same nonsense and I ended up going and buying a new 60 gig hardrive. good luck

If you have email on there, be sure to delete all the "Sent" mail...as well as all the unwanted email.

Also, if you have any unwanted MPegs, or JPGs, or MP3s etc etc...all of those eat up a lot of space.

That sucks. You should back up your important files and format your computer if you still have your OS CD. Make sure you know what you're doing before you do so. I format my computer like a couple times a year. It makes a big difference in performance after every format.

DaDa: Only do email on the net.. (never understood how outlook works at home.)

King Cheetah: Thanks! That knocked out around 1500 files. (BUT there seem to be about another 5,000 I have no need of, so I'm still looking for suggestions.)
