same thing was said about fantasy baseball/football back when only the nerds played it. Before that they played fantasy card games. Jocks never were into it but its taken off now and has coverage on ESPN. People just follow what others do..no real original thought. Was reading an article a few months ago about the effect of social media and thhe internet on how humans retain less real information. Their is no need for it because almost anything can be googled now. food for though. eh I sound like an old fart too.
Twitter is not dumb, would EA Sports make twitter the entire basis of their "Connected Careers" home page if it was dumb. It is so not dumb that they aren't even using real tweets as the basis of the page, but instead they use made up tweets by numerous ex-players and ESPN talking heads as the basis of the page. FREAKING AWESOME!!!
People who say Twitter is dumb just don't know how to take advantage of it or simply don't have one. It's a phenomenal way to get various forms of news that interest you, not to mention the comedy on there is just great. It's hands down my favorite social networking website because it actually has some benefits to it in terms of gaining knowledge and such. Heck of a lot better than the mindless stuff that happens on Facebook...
All I know is that Black folks sure love twitter. I have no clue what is being said, but they love it. Teenage girls love twitter. I have no clue what is being said, but they love it.
Non-twitter here... I don't have one... probably won't ever get one. I don't want to know when someone wants me to know they're going to poop or take a PP break or posting what retweet atsign_theirfriend retweet atsign_theirfriendfavoritecelebrity retweet atsign_theirfriendfavoritecelebritymom just posted about her food. I'm also hating that NEWS use just random "tweets" from celebrities/athletes to actually quote them... because it's "what they said." No, it's not. Do some REAL REPORTING. Uprising, I too am baffled when peeps post hasthagcrap on services OTHER THAN Twitter... I mean, "DUDE, you're not tweeting... that just looks darn dumb to write... on an email. F***. " Fixed.
