From what I remember wasnt NY one of the highly anticipated teams for this year. Melo, Amare, and Chandler on 1 team = playoffs? Why are there already trade rumors and thoughts of breaking the team up. Their record atm is 7 - 12 which isnt too bad. Can someone explain to me why already people are suggesting trades?
I'll explain the situation by citing to the following video: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NaVa6NHwUUg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
that is their record after a very easy stretch of their schedule with sub 500 teams, days off and a healthy core. But most importantly ignore the record and watch the game. They play like its a pick up game. No defense, no effort, and alot of turnovers. You can tell they are not a good team. I predict 10-19 by Valentines day.
Because their strength of schedule thus far has been .415, essentially the easiest in the league. They are losing to bad teams on a nightly basis. This is the problem with the new CBA rules. You cannot field a respectable team with 3 decent players and a bunch of rookies or D-league players unless those three players are the miami heat trio. The knicks are screwed because they have no sense of direction and their players are a poor fit together. They never should have signed Amare because he is the killer for that franchise. The knicks shoot a bunch of threes, don't pass the ball around, and don't play defense. That being said, they might eek into the playoffs this year still because of how weak that competition is for that 8th spot.
No this is whats RIGHT with the CBA. All the stars on one team makes the NBA as a whole a bad product.
Reasons why the Knicks are currently 7-12: * Average defensively (-1) * No chemistry between stars (-1) * No true point guard on the team (-1) * Waiving Chauncey Billups (-1) * Carmelo is not a creator for other players, as people would say he's not a great facilitator (-1) * Melo is also not the most efficient player in the world (-1) * Injuries (-1) * Amare's overall production has been underwhelming over all (-1) * D'Antoni is not using a system or style of play that works to the talent of his players (Not telling him to coach a certain way, but his system is so reliant on a competent to very good point guard with fast open court system, which doesn't work with every team). (-1) * Another problem with why D'Antoni's system isn't working right now. The Knicks also lack good outside shooters (-1) * No roster depth (weak rotation) (-1) * No go-top players or scorers outside of Melo and Amare (-1)
Reminds me of when the Rockets started out similarly in McGrady's first year. In fact I think they had the exact same record. Hopefully NYK doesn't turn it on like that team did.
They will turn it around. It's impossible to fail the entire year with talents such as Melo and Amare tbh. But they'll never be "good", but they won't be this bad. 8th seed is the likely turnout.
Outisde of the Big 3, that team is really bad. Landry Fields has declined. Jeremy Lin is their 4th best player.
That's what I'm predicting with them. They'll relatively turn it around, and finish sub 500 and get a 7th or 8th seed that they would never get if they were in the West. And even with a team that's not as anticipated as the Knicks, this forum would utterly be freaking out if we were 7-12. So what do you expect from Knick fans, whom are even more rabid?
They suck? Seriously though, they backed up a dump truck full of money to three superstars who are actually overrated allstars, at best, and had nothing left to fill out a dozen more roster spots. As some mentioned, they have had the easiest schedule I'm the NBA, thus far. And for those looking for them to get it together and improve, think again - their schedule to finish the season is the hardest in the league.
where to start? worst guard rotation in the league (seriously, try to name a worst guard rotation) no depth coach that does not prioritize defense overpaid chandler they were not that good before the melo trade and they still have not reloaded the roster to put quality players around melo/amare. the knicks front office is a joke.
Melo + Stat with no point guard. No SG, no point forward. Knicks have no good PG, but they got Wade + Bron. Lakers have no good PG, but they have Kobe.
