not sure that's actually true, but getting to kobe is such a lower bar and sengun actually getting to jokic is completely impossible
Jalen isn't even Jamal Crawford. Let alone Kobe Bryant. They literally call Sengun "Baby Joker". Jalen doesn't even register on people's radar. Neither will get there probably. But only one is an All Star.
Of course neither will get there, but jalen has a “higher” theoretical chance. It’s literally impossible for sengun. They called harold minor baby Jordan, i don’t think the silly nicknames matter much.
Jalen is a 6th man in this league. I am not sure in which good team in NBA in west he can be part of starting 5. He should thank to Udoka, for still being in starting 5. Low basketball iq, still terrible dribbling and all efficiency stats show Houston is better when he is offcourt, l try to understand the logic of your Jalen Kobe transformartion chance really. Don't get me wrong, l really try to understand the logic of it since talking about at best sixth man in this league on the trajectory of being one of game's all time greatest player, nickname mamba mentality for his warrior spirit.
I think the chance of jalen being on kobe’s level is like 0.0001%. I think the chance of sengun getting to jokic’s level is 0.0000000000001%. Getting to kobe’s level is easier then jokic, because jokic is miles above where kobe is. It’s not a compliment in any way to jalen or even a dig at sengun, it’s purely a compliment towards jokic.
Sengun struggles from beyond the arc and isn’t a consistent shooter overall. Unless that changes, he’ll never reach Jokic’s level. He’ll always be a baby version who never actually blossoms into the real daddy. I hope I’m wrong, though. I’d love to see Sengun prove us Rockets fans wrong.
I can see the argument that it is functionally (I wouldn't say completely) impossible for Sengun to become as good as Jokic. Jokic is just insane, never been a player with his combination of traits and level of talent before in NBA history. Already probably a top 4 center all time and he has a lot of career left. But if it's impossible for Sengun to become Jokic I don't see how it's possible for Jalen to become Kobe (or any of the top 3 or 4 shooting guards in NBA history). He's at least as far away as Sengun is from that status. So maybe the answer is "stop expecting so much from these guys". The odds of becoming one of the GOATs at your position are always very slim by nature. Thousands of NBA players over the decades and you're talking about matching one of the top 15 of them? Yeah, not going to put money down on that.
