By the way. Here's some stuff you won't see anybody finding. There's a summer league in Des Moines where mostly college players from Iowa, Iowa State, and some others (like Harrison Barnes in the past) play in.

White came back to play in a game 10 days ago. Faced head to head with Craig Brackins (another ISU great), who is on the 76ers now. First highlights are Brackins. Second up is White.

White drains two 3 pointers here and makes some great passes, including the last one. You can see how crafty he is:

I would call this some decent explosiveness but nothing like Lebron. Drummond didn't stand a chance blocking that by the way

Marcus Morris: Glenn Robinson (at worst, someone even say that Morris would be better than him), Paul Pierce, and Carmelo Anthony

Patrick Patterson: Buck Williams, Chuck Hayes with offense, Dennis Rodman with better offense.

Donatas Motiejunas: Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, and Andrea Bargnani.

    Not in the draft:

Kyle Lowry: Top 5 point guard (some even said he was better than Rondo and Westbrook).

Jeremy Lin: Don't get me started the board is raving about him, then turned on him right when he was going through his first struggles.

David Andersen: Potential to be an all-star center (CRINGING)

This board lives in perpetual Candy Land, I don't doubt that White has a chance to become a good player, but some of these comparison are becoming non-sense ... there's more hype on this board than it is in real NBA circles or even scouts. He has specific similarities to these players is to say one thing, to act as if he can put up similar production to these players is an entirely substantial projection.

Didn't see any defense in those highlights. I don't think he will be seeing much playing time under McHale that way. Lebron is at least a good defender and what sets him apart is not only his skill but his superior athletic ability. As others have posted here before me I think a more accurate comparison is Anthony Mason or a Larry Johson. If you were going to compare him to a superstar it would probably be closer to Sir Charles, but even that is probably unrealistic.

He's not an amazing defender, but he's not terrible. The stuff you'll see from the beginning of the year was lazy crap. They weren't motivated because we had a lot of talent, but our players thought "why are we even playing these guys?" half the time. It took a **** talking from a former ISU player who was in the NBA to make them come back down to reality. From then on, they actually played well.

Half of the highlights in videos you see from SwishScout for example, are from either this part of the year, or from right after it. This is when Royce was still getting back into his basketball mindset. Remember, Royce hadn't played a game in 2 years before this season.

Let's take a look at Royce versus some good talent he guarded . I'm taking games from the last part of the year because you know, the 2 years thing.

    vs. UConn:
Andre Drummond: 1-4 FG, 2 points, 3 rebounds, 0 assists in 26 minutes
Alex Oriake: 1-4 FG, 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist
Royce White: 13 rebounds, 1 block

    vs. Kentucky:
Anthony Davis: 4-9 FG, 7-9 FT, 15 points, 12 rebounds
    Terrance Jones: 3-9 FG, 2-4 FT, 8 points, 11 rebounds, 5 PF
Royce White: 9 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block

    vs. Baylor:
    PJ3: 5-11 FG, 10 points, 12 rebounds
Quincy Acy: 2-3 FG, 5 points, 5 rebounds
    Quincy Miller: 3-9, 6 points, 2 rebounds
Royce White: 11 rebounds, 1 block

    vs. Kansas (game 1):
Thomas Robinson: 4-10 FG, 10 points, 14 rebounds
    Royce White: 17 rebounds

    vs. Kansas:
    Thomas Robinson: 5-11 FG, 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 PF
    Royce White: 9 rebounds

I'm not going to sit here and tell you he's a great defender, because he's not. I wouldn't call him a bad defender always though. He's average I would say, especially down the stretch when he finally got into the swing of things (as he put it).

    Why is this thread here?

It is an insult to White! LBJ??? No comparison whatsoever.

More of a Jordan/ Olajuwon/ Magic mix. If you take the best of each of those guys, then you're starting to approach the greatness that is White.

My bad Doc. I was just wanting to get everyones opinion on whether if it was anyway possible that White could reach LeBron status. I tell you, i am leaning toward him being pretty damn close in a few years.

Now, i knew that he had only one full season of college ball, but this, not playing organized ball at all for 2 full seasons:eek:, i didn't know. This is very interesting, to say the least.

After the Minnesota debacle, he actually quit basketball all together for a number of months. Never even picked up the ball. No joke. He then found music, and then started getting back into bball, which is when he opened up his recruitment again.

He played pickup games, sure, but that's about it. When he came to ISU, he had to sit out a year, so all he had was practices and pickup games at the student rec center where players play all the time. They had a trip to Italy last summer where they played 4 or 5 semi pro teams, but that's about it.

I don't remember where it is, but in some interview after the Kentucky loss, he basically says he felt like he was just ramping up, and the last few games against UConn and Kentucky, he finally felt like he was "getting his game back." Which is pretty scary when you think about the fact he thinks he didn't do particularly well even when he marked 18 points, 17 rebounds against Thomas Robinson.

The guys on 610 are saying that he currently has LeBron like tendencies. I think that is a better way to put it.

Whites explosiveness doesnt compare at all to that of Lebron , nor is he nearly as athletic. What does compare is the skillset and size.

I believe Lebron's success may start a trend of bigger SF's ... White could fit that mold.

No , drummond didnt have a chance at blocking that shot .... Neither did the other three guys near the rim.

Dont forget he also threw one down over the #1 pick Anthony Davis ....
