Oh no doubt he can take another leap. But a big enough leap to get him into Top 5 all time contention? VERY unlikely.
"Best point guard" is a curse. Then you command the max, then your team will never win anything. Paying the max to a point guard is a good way to ensure you never win a championship.
I will argue with you on this, as well as your accusation that I'm ignoring defense and transition offense. As the "All-Star" (potential Top 5 ever according to some people in this thread) PG of his team, Rondo has the ability to control his team in transition. He should be pushing the ball. If he's not getting the ball quickly after the rebound, he should be calling for it. He should communicate this to his team between games if it's not happening enough. It's called "leadership," and Rondo should demonstrate it if he's the superstar that some people claim him to be. We all know other stars are evaluated on their perceived leadership. You say that Rondo is the #1 fast break PG in the league. If so, why doesn't he push the ball that much compared to the PGs on other teams? Why was Boston ranked #19 in fast break ppg? Obviously there are other factors, and Rondo doesn't have the youngest or most athletic team. But do you seriously think that Rondo's transition offense is that good, or that he can exploit it that much over the course of a season, that it negates his awful shooting percentages and turnovers?
writing the Thunder off so soon, eh? Paying a point guard max and not having great other pieces is a way to lose.
i think what heypartner meant was that there is only a chance he gets a good jump shot. and i agree with him if he really picked up his shooting he would be one of the best ever. thats how good his other aspects of his game are.
i didn't really say he is the best "transition PG' if you want to look at team transition pt. I said "quick offense" But really, I said Rondo is the best PG in the league. forget the semantics, i'm just simply saying that I believe Rondo is the best PG in the league, because if I had a choice of PGs, I would pick him first. easy pick.
Same here, I think he is at least one of the best PG's. I would say it's close between him and Paul. For my PG's, I prefer an excellent playmaker before anything else. That means controlling the tempo, moving with the ball, moving without the ball, understanding your teammates' sweet spots, speed of decision making, among other things. Personally I think Rondo is a slightly better playmaker. Everything else is gravy. After playmaking, I'm indifferent to whether the other skills are offensive or defensive. Paul is a much better scorer, and Rondo is better at virtually everything else. IMO comparing their teams' stats is worthless. Different coaches, different systems, different teammates, different conferences, different careers and different roles.
Rondo feeds C-Lee for the yam: <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ry61E7CrmEo" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="480" width="853"></iframe>
Almost a triple double ... at the HALF. 14 pts, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks sick statline. let's see what it becomes by the end of the game.
Maybe it's just me but Rondo is much funner to watch then Cp3 and Dwill. Only Rose and WB are more enjoyable due to their ridiculous athleticism.
