Based on the scouting reports, recent performance, Rockets big man coaching, and Morey's track record, I expect him to surprise a lot of people. Donuts will eventually be a force in this league.

The wolves won 22 games, before they drafted Love. After the draft, there was no impact or effect on the team.

They won 24 games, 15, 17 games over the next 3 years. They were the same team.

He doesn't make his teammates better, because he is taking away their shots and rebounds usually. As a PG, Rubio is creating points for his teammates that weren't there before.

How many wins are they on pace now?

With Rubio, he has the fans excited but the truth is the results aren't good enough to get them to the playoffs, which is the one thing they want to do (as they don't have their pick). The fans are excited because Minny has been the laughingstock of the league for a very long time, they are looking for any sliver of hope which presents itself.

Love is just as important, if not more important than Rubio. He gives them an overwhelming advantage in rebs, which is one of the keys to winning games. He's also a really good passer, so its not like he can't create for the team.

Hope so, we need more/an international superstar.. since there's a drought of all-stars not wanting to come to Houston.

Unlikely. His stats aren't that special in Europe right now, and the NBA is a higher level of competition. His stats so far in EURO:

    10 GP
    31.3 Min
    12.5 Pts off 11 FGA
    53.1% 2P%
    30.4% 3P%
    45.5% FT%
    7.9 TRB
    0.9 Asts
    0.6 Stls
    0.8 Blks
    2.3 TO
    3.0 PF

He has nice potential to go beyond where he is at but it is a HUGE jump up from 12.5/7.9 in the Euroleague, with mediocre efficiency, to an all-star level of play.

Take a look at Rubio's stats from the past two year. Rubio actually stunk it up in the Euroleague this last year. The NBA is a different league. I dont know how he will translate his game in the NBA but you look at his skillset and you have to think it should bode well.

Rebounding tends to translate well. Scoring in either league doesnt always translate to one or the other. D-Mo should impact the game on the boards, but other than that he's a complete unknown.

However, I hope he is a hard enough worker to earn rotation minutes next season. Thats about my only expectation. Most teams would just throw him in the starting lineup and see how he does. The Rockets wont do that.

He'll have to work for his minutes just like every other Rockets player has or hasnt(Squid... Im looking at you) Either way, I think he has top 5 draft potential if he was coming out this year given his excellent performance in the Euroleague, rebound record setting performances, and high ceiling that he didnt show before this last year.

Rockets fans need to realize that you are basically getting a top draft pick this next year in D-Mo.

Since we are not tanking, and all the "superstar" divas want to tag team each other, D-mo is our LAST HOPE. Attempting to break down his eurostats to see if they will translate to the nba, is a task for Maury's IBM. It's a completely different game. Deron should have averaged 40 points in turkey if it was that easy and not 20.

Posters can keep denying it, but the biggest impact comies from that hof coaching and coaching staff. Its not a secret guys love playing for him and have their best years under coach adelman. The offense they run is a bit different than the one he's run previously. How many wins did morey say a coach is worth?

Well the Rockets have a better record with a much stronger schedule, so I guess Mchale's HOF coaching kicks RA's HOF coaching.

P.S. Mchale's the only one in the HOF between the two of them. Adelman's HOF is like the pirated ones you download in Piratebay, Mchale's the original you buy off steam.

Actually PPG actually tends to increase in the NBA given minutes played. CF might balk at 12 PPG in the Euroleague, I see 15 to 20PPG in the NBA given he's seeing minutes.

Euroleague, while it doesn't have the level of play that the NBA has, it does have rules, play calling, and lower minutes played that keep the scoring pretty minimal. Also defenses are allowed to do certain things like handchecking/goaltending that lower the score dramatically.

The NBA is a much better "scorers league" and is much more fast paced. Its a league that a player like Montiejunas SHOULD succeed much greater in.

That being said, you still need to have plays being called for you, a scorers role, and minutes on the court in the NBA to put up superstar stats. Not everyone can just walk on the court and put up 50 points. You get the right coach and the right system, and you could have something.

-side note- I have been, and still am a supporter of going with McHale instead of Adelman, but I feel that Adelman's system would have been great for Montiejunas.

D-Mo is an outside passing big man who can shoot pretty well and create off the dribble if need-be. The high post corner sets would have been a great look for D-Mo. Im sure McHale will do just fine with him over time, and he actually might make him get his hands dirty in the paint. Something that Adelman wouldnt necessarily be the best coach for.

I said the difference between teams like the warriors and t-wolves is coaching. The rockets will be fighting it out for the 8th seed with a team they didn't think they would be fighting with. Take adelman off that team and the have 3-4 wins tops. The wolves are playing with kids, the rockets are depending on 30 yr olds. Which roster would you rather have?

30yr olds?? Our team is actually pretty young, Scola is in his thirties?but we are relatively young, Lowry is only 25, and he's waaaay better then Rubio, When we play the Timberwolves in a couple of days, Love won't have a prayer guarding "old man" Scola on the low block.

Is this a joke? Kevin Love doesn't make his teammates better and he is "taking away" his teammates rebounds? ... Remind me to not take you seriously in future matters.

Love is a beast offensively, but he can't guard his own shadow, don't get it twisted though, I'd do anything to put him on the rockets.

Scola and dally are 30 right? Martin is 28 and soft as butta. The only young and promising player is lowry. Their young players are playing and producing, not sitting on the bench or being inactive.

Yeah, you got a point, but I'm willing to bet you anything that" soft as butta" Martin, will serve the Hell out of Ridinour or whoever else they put on him in a couple of days. ..Yeah the Timberwolves look promising now, but I've watched the NBA for a long time and I've seen a loooot of young promising teams, all it takes is one injury, love wanting to get out of Minnesota or Rubio suddenly being homesick for things to change, nothing is guaranteed, our Rockets are literally a big trade or two from being contenders you just never know.

I voted "no" simply because Rubio was hyped for 2 years before he actually arrived in Minny. Plus he's making some hilight reels. He's also in the driver's seat of the game as a pg. I would love for D-mo to make some Chandler Parsons like contrabutions, namely energy & hustle.

If Motiejunas turns out to be at best serviceable, then he would be a success, as far as I'm concerned. This board simply has a tendency to hype players up and give them a ceiling that's comparable to perennial NBA all-stars or even borderline HOF players. It's kind of ridiculous, yet funny at the same time. If it's a player, like Yao or Steve Francis, I could understand more, but not a guy who was drafted after top 15, or someone who was taken later in a very weak draft.

Example: Marcus Morris is a great example. Some posters do not realize how good Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, and Glenn Robinson was coming out of college. All three were instant go-to players in their first NBA seasons. It is somewhat fair to compare the games, but you cannot disregard the production. At this present moment, I cannot see any of those players as rookies coming on to this year's Rockets and not starting immediately. Chase Budinger or Chandler Parsons being ahead of Pierce or Robinson in their rookie season. The coach would be fired, or the team is intentionally trying to tank games. From what I've seen in early games and D-League games, it's not there, he might can become a fairly decent option off the bench or maybe a starter on the right team. He is not in same class with those players coming from the amateur ranks.

Thabeet is a 7,3 260 pound monster of a man . . . who Memphis practically gave away for almost peanut shells. Who gives away even the most average of centers, unless there is a contract dispute, a very good player on the other side of a trade, or he is some kind of malcontent (or a complete stiff). If Thabeet transformed into a Marcus Camby type player, then that would be extraordinary. If he could turn into a Samuel Dalembert player, then that would fine. Even coming out of college, Thabeet was no Bogut or Camby, along with Greg Oden who only played one small year in college. Seriously, the teams had to be enamored with size to draft him. If Thabeet were projected as low as (or drafted) in the same spot as Fab Melo or Festus Ezeli, he wouldn't have been such bust. What makes this scenario even more calamitous for the Grizzlies (slightly for the Rockets), which is they could easily draft one of those players, both are projected in the low 1st round to mid 2nd round.

Rubio played on 3 National teams (1 Olympics and 2 FIBAs), those player teams are composed of the most competitive Spanish players in fact not including Rubio or Llull. Their national team featured 6 NBA players. Moreover, Rubio simply had more potential to succeed in the NBA than Motiejunas. With Rubio, he had some nice games, even with a not too impressive stat-line. Though, you could tell he could certainly be at worst a slightly above average point guard in the NBA, since he had very good court vision and could play not too bad defense. In fact, NBA players were already talking about Rubio four years ago, that is saying something about his hype. Most of all, I've yet to see one fan or analyst question his work ethic. Obviously, he has "IT."

Beyond on basketball, I see the same thing with Tebow. It's like certain fans are trying to hype up a player who needs alot of improvement and consistency to remain at a professional level. It's weird to see that a team has to change its entire offensive strategy or system to fit the need of one player who may not even be amongst the top half of the players at his position. It's weird, because most good players or the most talented players coming into the league. A team can put them in any sort of system and they would succeed, especially Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and any top 10 QB. You could put them on the worst (or mediocre) teams in the league, and that team somehow makes the playoffs. Indy was a perfect example of the impact of losing a really good player.

As far as running QBs go, look at the receivers Vick, Cunningham (with Eagles), McNair, Flutie, and McNabb made the playoffs with. The more talented QBs can bring out the best in their teammates, which is why dislike how running QBs are blindly thrown into one category, because their passing skills are all on different level, while Tebow doesn't compare to any of the players above. Most of players above, except Brady, Flutie, and Cunningham (the stereotype were still very present at the time for him), were highly touted coming out of college, top 1st round picks for a reason . . . high potential.

For Tebow, he is somewhere in the middle, not exceptional, but not quite awful, though not as a great as his supporters make him out to be, especially when you are comparing him to Steve Young or John Elway. It's the fault of the fans, sometimes for creating these unbelievable high expectations for these players and makes it even worse or harder for that player. Though, I can understand Lebron, Dwight Howard, or the Manning Brothers. An almost unfairly talented player, 1st pick in the draft, and mega contracts and commercials. They can have those high expectations thrown on them, because those players are literally given the keys to a cruise ship and expect to become the best one on the planet.
