Why would you qualify it? Why would you say 'get to the championship but not win it?'

The Rockets were a very good team last year. Assuming they stay healthy and assuming Ty Lawson keeps his act together, the Rockets would be a much, much better team next year. Why wouldn't they be able to win it?

No one is going to have them as the favorites. Vegas isn't going to have them as the favorites. ESPN won't have them as the favorites. But they should be very, very legit contenders. Cleveland is the favorite right now mainly because they play in the Leastern Conference, and then Golden State is probably right behind them, but then you have the group with San Antonio, the Clippers, OKC and us all as very serious contenders. You never know what might happen during the course of a season with trades or injuries, but I would say any from that group have a definite chance of winning a title next season.

i think if mchale expands his game and can step out to the 3 point line, he can stretch the floor enough for us to win it. he's the missing piece at PF./sarcasm


coaching is a taaaaaaaaaaad overrated in the NBA. you have a system, and it's on the players to run that system. it's not as much about running plays, because the NBA is a much more free flowing game now and set plays are easy to guard.

not to completely dismiss coaching. they can definitely impact the game, but i think fans use that as an easy out to explain things they couldn't explain otherwise.

 

Yes. If the Rox had Lawson or Thornton they would've gotten past Golden State. Just think about the first 2 games they lost in Golden State

2. D12 ability to make free throw, mentally strong, and rim protection
3. Pat or Ty's ability to take the pressure of James on the offensive end

It's all about health. We can afford some injury setbacks during the regular season but we need the team at a 100% during the playoffs. If we are, and we don't win the ring, that might be the end of Mchale as a coach for the Rockets.
