No way. Lebron is the type of player that comes along once 30 years. Durant is a great natural scorer, but he ain't James.
The guy is extremely lanky, and tall. You can't expect him to pack on muscle on the body, like LeBron and Dwight Howard. Those two guys are freakishly athletic. If Durant could pack on muscle, he would have already tried. But that isn't his strength (no pun intended). He doesn't muscle his way into the lane like Kyle Lowry / LeBron James. He instead, tries to drive in and create contact a la Kevin Martin.
Name one player in NBA history who has just "learned" court vision, please. I'd just like to know what makes KD so phenomenal to achieve this phenomenon.
I don't understand how Durant is this overhyped. The man can score, true, but putting him in the same category as Lebron? please..... If we did a draft a fantasy nba draft right now.... 99.99% of all people would choose lebron #1....and then someone else # 2. Whether it be dwight, or dwade, etc... because lebron is made of something else. there's a reason why they were laughing at kenny.
He always had playmaking abilites.. Just because he wasn't known for it doesn't mean he never had it.
Words. Durant also has a frame that would seem at some point might lend itself to injury, where as LeBron is probably the most impressive physical specimen to ever play the game...but really, who knows.
what happens when Lebron's jumper finally does become consistent. Combine that with passing ability, athleticism, a post game....that's basically every facet of the game right there.....
not an nba player, but I did. it took me about 4 years of learning tendencies of certain types of players. I can imagine that, being an NBA player and your only job is to practice and play basketball, would cut the learning time in half. Anyway, you're assuming KD has never passed the ball ever in his life. That he only knows how to shoot the ball and that's it. Some players who have improved their court vision? How about any player that dominated the ball? MJ played PG for a span of his early career. Also, if you are an offensive threat then it means you get doubled frequently which means that someone is open. this is why a scoring PG can be even more deadly than "pure" PGs. Now if you're talking about KD turning into Magic then NO it's not gonna happen. Once again, being able to distribute the ball to the right person and getting easy buckets is not something you have to be born with. Being freakishly tall, quick, and having unbelievable hops?? that's something you are born with. big difference.
What happens when Durant becomes defensively great? He has to learn to use his length better. I could see Durant mold his defense around a Tayshaun Prince type defense.
I said yes bc lebron's game is all about power while kd is slick and more about technique. I just personally think that if he keeps learning move after move a la kobe then he'll be unstoppable. He already has the shot lebron wishes he had
Actually, Lebron will be 28-years old in 3 years, which is around the age that most analysts consider NBA players to be in their "prime." I don't think this should even reasonably be a point of argument at this time. Both players need to improve facets of their game and it is too speculative to assume that one player will improve these facets while the other does not.
People were saying the same stuff about Tracy. Its tough to call right now, but I dont see it when he is a poor facillitator.
You know everyone talks about the kobe-lebron rivalry, but kobe is getting up there. Durant and Lebron are about the same age, so I can see a lebron-durant thing in a couple of years with people constantly arguing who's better and the two of them battiling it out for MVPs and rings
This is a question to those who agree with Kenny Smith. Have you actually seen Lebron James play? Don't get me wrong, KD is going to be amazing, but what Lebron does with so little talent around him is out of this world.
All this bump illustrates is how hate can cloud judgement. Here, before "The Decision", 60% voted that James will be the better player. In the other thread, after "The Decision", that percentage had shrunk to 32% while nothing had changed other than the fact that LeBron had changed teams (yes, I'm dismissing being eliminated by the Celtics as unimportant).
