The three guys you named her are garbage. Chandler has proven that he can play at a championship level.
Teams that can offer him good money: - <strike> Indiana--> Max (Hibbert) </strike> - <strike>Washington --> Max (Javale McGee)</strike> - Denver --> Max/or almost - Minnesota--> Max - <strike>Sacramento--> Max (Cousins) </strike> - <strike>Clippers (DeAndre Jordan)</strike> - Charlotte, Golden State, Detroit, Toronto, Houston, Oklahoma (a good amount, with a soft cap). 1st. If the new CBA allows him to do it, Cuban is still the front-runner. If he can re-sign him, I bet he will. If he can't, Tyson options depend on the new cap. With a hard cap, none of the blue teams could sign him. ... I don't see him going to Minnesota, honestly. Also not the other teams with space to sign him but counting already with a good prospect at the position. Denver could be a possibility, if negotiations with Nene do not work. With a new cap similar to the current one (or softer) and the Mavs not allowed to retain him, the Rockets would have their chances. The Thunder would be the preferred team for Chandler, but they will be around 51-52 including Cook (qualifying offer extended) and their recent 1st pick Reggie Jackson. The Rockets have a little more space and would be willing to create even more by trading Flynn or Hill/T-Will if so gives them good chances of success. Eventually, Houston could offer him around $4 millions more per year. If the new cap is extremely generous, Oklahoma could have a very good chance, but that situation is very unlikely. The Rockets could make him an offer over the $10 millions with the current salary cap, trading previously Flynn -e.g.- to a team under the cap. - If the Heat are able to sign him, it means that the new CBA is a joke and a big fail. Still, he would have to renounce to a lot of money (having a ring already), and I really don't see very likely an scenario where the Heat can sign him and at the same time the Mavs can't retain him. I sincerely believe that the Rockets have their chances, but they need a little luck on their side. Now Bima, CH and the salary cap gurus can rectify me, but I think/hope not to be too misguided....
That's what I think. Cuban was gunning for a championship from the moment he bought the team. Unlike Alexander, who fell into the first Rockets championship, Cuban had to work at it, and being a young billionaire didn't hurt. It's unthinkable to me that Cuban won't do everything in his power to keep this team together. They may be even better next season. If Chandler ends up in Houston, you'll be able to knock me over with a feather.
ya they have 11 million dollar cap space so maybe.but the possiblility is low (sadly) cause he just won a championship
Yes they are crap. I wasnt saying Chandler is on their level. I was simply using them as an example to show how Cuban over payed centers on his roster and he will do they same with Chandler. If he overpayed for "garbage" why wont he do so for the real deal. And although Haywood is overpayed he is not garbage.
Depends on where the hard cap is whether the blue teams can sign him. If there is a hard cap, it will be higher than the soft cap.
Yao and Chandler are also good buddies. This is another reason I agree with the poster that suggested Chandler truly wants to play in Houston. Houston is the city players would settle after maturing. It's like Florida but not for old people
how do you know that? Besides yao might not even be on the team... on a side note the more I research dontas monte whatever...the more i like him.. The guy is the best offensive euro big i have seen...he looks like a sf out there.
True. Really I was thinking on the limit. Tough limit / soft limit. The point I was trying to display is that this summer we are in a better situation than some may think. For the first time in years the Rockets can be in a good position to land a premier free agent, but the vibe around the forum seems to suggest that we have no chances.
They played against each other as teens. There's history to their relationship. Motiejunas looks good. I just hope hes strong enough to play his game in the NBA. I think Yao will be back. He seems like the loyal type that will accept the min. Of course, I also think that the next injury is his retirement as well
This. We could clear some major cap space no matter what the cap is at for next summer. The hard truth is that it's nearly impossible to package players to a team to get a star player unless you have the right players and other assets to do so. We saw it last summer; all the major players went to teams with cap space. If we renounce the rights to our free agents this summer and next summer, we could clear some major room. By this time next year, Martin will be an expiring agent.
