The same thing that stops them from not providing health insurance now - people can get private insurance now too. They do it as a competitive advantage and because it's subsidized as a tax break qualifying expense. We don't even know at this point if there will be a public option for health insurance or if it will simply be assistance in finding private insurance (like Massachusetts). Absolutely. You hear about the times they underestimate things - but you'll never hear about the times they overestimate it. And it's different if it's an administration estimate vs. a CBO estimate. That's not what the CBO does. That assumes a public option, which isn't even certain yet. And that assumes the worst kind of public option, as opposed to the one most often discussed which is the independent non-profit that operates like any other insurance company. We've been talking about gov't involvement in health care for more than 15 years now. There have been massive numbers of studies and analysis of different ideas and programs. Who's rushing into anything?

I tried to get an appointment with the doctor and he said they could schedule me two weeks later. I could only pick blue cross. If I have no choice might as well have universal healthcare.
