I think the rationale is, for example...if there's a particular kind of metal made just for a specific type of assault weapon, the person can say "Well I'm just producing metal, the ore comes from the earth". You can conclude what the end product will more than likely lead to. Best preventative thing to do is say dont make the product at all, whether its practical or not. So the bad guys dont get their hands on it.
No, the best preventative thing to do is to make sure that only legitimate, honest businesspeople control the distribution process so that only honest businesspeople choose who has access to it. This way, children and criminal organizations will find it more difficult to get their hands on the potentially dangerous material
My take, its the whole slippery slope thing. Its not a simple as "Just Add Drug". You still have to somewhat define how much more super-mental you want people to be. At its extreme, rewiring the human form can make things stranger than science fiction. We identify ourselves by a certain standard human image and human ability. Do we want people's head growing 3 times bigger as a result? If humans can grow 10 feet tall as a result, do we want that? What if it further decreases differences in gender, women become more muscular and manly? Is that going to be come new "hot chick"? Would you have to separate super-humans from "traditional" humans? The further you go with that type of progress, the more everything as we currently know it becomes obsolete. Because once you do 1 thing, its a gateway to everything else. I think THAT'S whats worrisome to most. Basically, sure if it makes things better. As long as it doesnt alter reality overnight. By "best thing" I didnt mean the most effective. Just meant "most simple mental approach". As in tribal villager in the mountains seeing everyone row their own, acting as if there's no governing body. In response to "its just a plant". Agree WITH a governing body, either prevent it outright or regulate the hell out of its distribution and manufacturing.
Oh, I realize that... but I've also known that, particularly in Syd's case, it was always "he'd do drugs by the shovel load, especially LSD"... and I was referring to all psychoactive drugs, including hallucinogens...
MDMA and mild LSD or some form of Psilocybin. force all the world leaders to take these and we will finally have world peace... then the rise of the anti-christ and rapture. but seriously.. those 3 psychotropics are the beez neez man.
yes, I've been told that... but somehow I've never been entirely convinced that the following or straying from that rule would provide the only variable/s between positive results and negative ones... my biggest concern is how would it affect someone's perception that already is quite perceptive--profound, if you must--"sober".... would that even matter...? sense it supposedly it tends, as is promoted, to "enhance" one's perception... how far does/would it take that which is already capable... i'm also concerned if instead of "enhancing" that it would distort one's once capable perception... would it, say... make one's mind cross that ever delicate line between genius and insanity...? out of curiosity, have you ever heard of or witnessed an individual having negative and permanent results from their one and only first attempt...? not that I would go by your words alone... simply to have something to consider and compare with everything else I've learned about such drugs from other users...
It's been many years since I was involved, but I've never personally known anyone to have any permanent problems. I won't recommend anyone to try it or not. But if someone was going to try it, and they had concerns, then I would suggest taking 1/2 or 1/4 of a hit to get a taste of what the experience is like. Actually 1/4 might not do a whole lot, but you never know how powerful it is until you try it. Again, not making any recommendations for or against.
If you are seriously considering a hallucinogen, I would suggest MDMA, to be used around (and with ) people who are close to you and who you would be OK with knowing your deepest, darkest secrets, which tend to come out on that substance. I also recommend having one sober friend in tow to be the "designated decider," or arbiter of all rules. Leave the cell phone off, take large doses of multivitamins before you start, and try not to drink or smoke much more than you would normally (defer to the arbiter). MDMA is not one that I have ever heard of anyone having a "bad trip" on like LSD, but it will make you talk people's ears off, which is the reason is was so useful in therapeutic environments. The only exception is kids. Psychotropic drugs do not affect the young in the same way. Drugs and puberty are one of the worst possible combinations and if you are under 18, I would be happy to talk at length with you about the reasons for putting off experimentation until your body chemistry settles down.
Hallucinogens are nuts. I was on muscle relaxers for a month and would go out of my mind pretty regularly. There's nothing cool about that. (granted partly because I was actually in serious pain at the time) But I found very little joy out of hallucinating like that. Not to mention just rambling random **** to everyone around you makes you sound like a moron the next day when they tell you about it.
Delusional thought and the kind of hallucinations that you like you get with scopolomine (i.e. talking to people that aren't there) is a very different thing from LSD. Hallucinations is probably an imprecise word. On some show on TV, I heard someone describe normal brain function as a telephone where the switchboard operator connects a call from one room to another, when a call is placed on LSD, the call is often connected to a room at random (or several rooms at once). The best way I can describe it, everything in the world is seen as if you are a child and you've never seen anything before. Everything has some fascinating new attribute or aspect that your brain long ago learned to filter out as mundane, routine and superfluous.
I wouldn't want to see the next morning if everyone went through a Fear and Loathing trip. Most of these drugs you can't turn off. You get to the point where you hope things turn out alright because you won't totally remember all of it.
The issue w/MDMA nowadays is getting some that is real and not cut w/anything else. Worse trips on E have been when it wasn't E but may have been Ketamine, which was pretty much like falling into a deep dark hole and being consumed by your darkest thoughts, not fun. At all! BUUT if you do get some real E it can be a very positive thing, it will let you break down internal barriers that you may have. The only down side is the if you are prone to depression it can make a few weeks down the road seem like the world is falling in on you and is the reason I won't be doing any E for a long long time. "For every action there is a reaction" And agree about set and setting for LSD, makes all the difference!
There are testing kits available so that you can make sure that what you are really taking is MDMA. I remember getting K once instead of E, that sucked.
Yea but people want to live in luxury. I mean, why not live on the bare minimals and donate the rest of your salary to charity? Because living that way sucks
Mdma isn't really a hallucinogen, you can trip at high doses but thats pretty rare. If you take it you wanna go to a music concert or something like that. If you actually wanna trip, dont be a p***y, grab some shrooms or lsd. These are the psychedelics that people say they have live changing realizations (for the better) and experience spiritual enlightenment. MDMA, you usually just feel absolutely amazing.
All relative to your point of view, some of the most enlightened people were minimalists. If your idea of life is an abundance of fast food, booze, and TV, then yes it would suck. Also many of those indigenous tribes do lots of cool drugs =). Nature is a bounty of blessings, yet we worship man-made science instead of the gifts nature has given us.
