We also traded for Tracy McGrady, which was kind of a big deal at the time. Just last year we traded for Ron Artest (a big risk if ever there was one) and people were talking about "Big 3." Those moves didn't turn out in best-case scenarios; they were risks. Clearly, Morey was willing to risk trading away valuable pieces for Rubio, but determined that the risk was ultimately too high for the price. Surely you aren't arguing that Morey doesn't see the need to have all-starts on the team, or that he doesn't take risks, or that he doesn't value the draft. We just got done spending $6 million to get into the draft three times. The difference is that Morey views draft picks as simple assets rather than golden tickets to the Finals. For every Dwight Howard, there's a Emeka Okafor. It's all one big gamble, and you have to pick your pots.
Do you think that if the rockets hit on that lotto pick the way they have hit on the brooks and landry that they would have given ariza full mle? Alot of the moves being made is because they haven't hit hard enough on the mid to late picks to combine with the injured players. We were still searching and trying to find and when we found a couple, the 2 main guys cant stay on the court. I hope all the players drafted become elite. As much as people want to get rid of brooks, i think he and ariza are goignt omake or break the franchise. I know it seems like alot, but other free agents want to see what the rox are working with before they sign. If brooks shows that upward curb which i think he will and ariza keeps getting better and more involved which i think he will also, then one of those guys like wade, amare,or bosh will take notice and will see they wont have to try to carry the squad which they cant.
I was looking at Jered Bayless's rebounding averages in the SL, he's averageing 4 a game and he's only 6-3. Chase really needs to improve in that area and defense if he wants to be in the roation.
I think some people basically think Budinger was a bad acquisition. That the Rockets should have gambled more and traded for a second round pick and used that pick to draft an All-Star because that's what good GMs do.
Read what I wrote again, very slowly: You do realize Nelson is another guy who wasn't drafted based on a high ceiling? What about Morey drafting Sergio Llul? What about the great Bostjan Nachbar and Malick Badiane, do you wish Morey could get credit for drafting those studs who fit your high ceiling criteria? It's like the more you say, the more you are trying to convince yourself that you have an argument.
