too slow on PnR defense. liability if team has a quick or stretch 4. can't space floor for dwight. will make it too easy for teams to double him / crowd the paint.
As mentioned earlier - those are all typical Center skills. He needs to be a good weakside defender and be able to hit at least the mid range jumper efficiently.
Honestly, I think he could be a decent PF too. You can't play him when the other team's got a 4 out there who can step back and shoot from range obviously, but when it's a big 4 without range, I don't see why not. He'll contribute nearly nothing on offense, but with Lin, Harden, Parsons, and Howard he won't need to contribute anything. Just grab boards and play good defense, his two specialties, and I think it could work.
He may not be the quickest but he always seems to be in the right position. I mean it takes more than just size to be a good rebounder.
Lin could also be a small forward, and Leslie Alexander could put up 20 and 10 as a NBA starting Left fielder
lol what!?!?! Asik can't be a great PF are you on crack? He would not be able to guard most athletic PFs in the NBA, they are faster and shoot from outside..asik is a center and a center only
i disagree. what we saw last year was what he was asked to do; do not leave the paint like all other centers.
