Terrance Morris falls into the Derrick McKey syndrome. He does have all the tools you look for in a small forward, long , quick , good hands, good defender, decent passer, and decent slasher/scorer. He has all of this, but just like Derrick McKey, Rodney McCray,Billy Owens ,and Stacy Augmon, they just don't seem to have the will to take over when its needed. Derrick McKey could have been every bit as good or better than Pippen in his prime. He came from a good D-1, with the same tools Morris has, but for some reason, maybe the mentality, they just do enough to get by and next thing you see, they have been in the league 10-12 yrs.

Morris weakness is probably just straight shooting which with work can become a more than adequate one. Just like someone mentioned above as with a lot of young player its between the ears. Really its all attitude and him and other players just don't seem to have the attitude or confidence to dominate. As good as Dave was and all the records he has acheived, think of what kind of player he would have been if he had that nasty Barkley attitude. He was still a great player, but he had the tools to become one of the best ever period. Morris just need to let it go and play.

If Tmo becomes another Derrick McKey, I would be thrilled. We don't need him to be a stud. Just go out there and take care of business of 15-20 minutes a game which includes making open jump shots, playing solid D, and not making any mistakes. We don't need him to be a star.

Tmo would make a great role player if he could find his role.

Terence Morris showed little to none offensive skills last year, however I do think he can become a legit defender in this league. He's long and athletic and can block shots really well. It's his offense that likely has the Rockets concerned. He's got to learn to hit the three and finish off his drives. I think he can become a designated defensive specialist in Rudy's system.

    Morris is an ideal roleplayer.

His main position is the 3. He can slide to the 4 against the skinnier 4s. He plays above average defense both on the interior, and on the perimeter, and is a good help defender. He has good physical tools to do so (tall, long arms, fairly agile). Morris is excellent for chemistry-he's a team player, an above average passer, and doesn't worry about scoring his points. His connection to the "clique" is a benefit. He is an above average rebounder, too.

On offense, he fills lanes on the break, and keeps the ball moving. His shot is streaky-it's mainly mental. If he misses his first shot or two, you can see he's hesitant about shooting again, then he just starts putting up bricks. He doesn't seem totally comfortable from the 3 point line, but looks ok about a step in (he may add this this summer.

I see Nachbar as the future 3 of this team, but Morris is a great utility role player to have off the bench.

TMO will be fine. When he was in high school, he didnt travel to play aau games or go to all theses camps like out top hs players do.He stayed home and enjoyed being a kid. He played 4 years in school but he still has a lot of untapped potential. Will he ever be the man, no but he can be one of the top role players in the league.Just give him a chance to learn and feel comfortable.

I have to agree with NIKE's assessment of Morris. He seems like a very good role player for this team. We already have TONS of offensive players so having a nice role player at the 3 would be an asset. Teams need role players like Morris to do the dirty work and be a jack of all trades. Morris might not have the best "stats" in the world when he is in the game but he gets involved whether it be passing, good defense, rebounding etc. He is a nice "team" guy and someone that will be good to bring off of the bench.

    Poor Man's Robert Horry.

Horry improved his shoot dramatically between rookie and sophemore year. I could see Morris being an Horry for the Rockets with some good seasoning and a similar shoot improvement.

I always liked T-Mo, and I still think he'll do good things for this club.

As was mentioned, his main problem is upstairs. If he had a killer instinct, he would have been worth a lottery pick. Now he seems to have picked up some fire; he knows, or should know, that if he doesn't perform well this year, he'll be adrift in the NBA.

He's a great glue guy. Watching Maryland games, I always had to seek him out (where is he? ah! there), because he sometimes seemed to disappear, as if he was content playing help defense (excellent at this) and letting the game come to him (sometimes too much so).

T-Mo can play significant minutes at the 3. I hope he catches on.
