Sengun was floating on defense and should've been called out. These are the deficiencies Sengun has that aren't mentioned in his several highlight threads. He's a liability on defense
Yes hell yes...#28 is about to be traded because of his defense now. Stone knows what to do soon. My intel tells me that.
Assumptions, assumptions...I was in Iraq with 82nd in 05...you think I am soft? I also played basketball competitively. How about damn apples?
You are just a nuisance, that's all! Why don't you jerk off to Jalen's poster this morning? That might release some of the tension!
If your court correction gets picked up by the mic, you better be right, because Ime is going to make fun of you in film session, later, if you’re wrong. I wouldn’t want to be “that guy.”
I just think Jabari is saying, “when you come, come committed and hard.” Sengun kinda in-betweened the play. And I don’t think we help that way. We help hard. But, I don’t think we can know from one play if Sengun was supposed to come early. Defensive game plans can differ in how soon you help on a star. With Jokic, Coach said the plan wasn’t to double, but the when we did, we double late. so, not so much wrong, but not aggressive, once he helped.
Jabari has very little rim protecting instincts. He isnt a good blind side help defender and he is slow off his feet and oftentimes doesnt even contest shots at the rim. Not sure what gaining weight would do other than help him not get abused by strong post players like in this sequence, but then how does that impact his perimeter ability which was the selling point of his defense to begin with? Sengun is supposed to be the rim protector and Jabari should be a player that helps hide him on defense. Stone will need to find more high level 3&D players to make it work on a consistent basis. The current roster construct is not suited for a heliocentric big man with questionable defense.
Jabari: bark bark bark bark bark constantly yelling at Sengun … “GET HIS ASS OFF THE FLOOR!” Sengun: How can I lift you up and encourage you? b****, you get off the floor and guard your man!
In that situation, in the 4th Qtr and you are down, EVERYBODY know you are suppose to double, ESPECIALLY in the paint.....its Basketball 101. And like I have been saying AND I will continue to say, defense is not Sengun's best quality. He is an offensive player, like Sabonis and Jokic. They are all good but they are limited, however what makes Jokic special is his length. He is able to rebound outside his area, deter players from driving into lanes w/o moving. Sengun and Sabonis can not. Finally, the most difficult thing in basketball is to turn an offensive first player into a defensive player. Defense is "WANT TO" and "DESIRE", either you have it or you don't. You can fake it for a minute but not every time up and down the court. And in the 4th qtr, Overtime, when those legs are weary it shows....And it showed with Sengun. I don't dislike Sengun, I think he is a very good player, Im glad he is a Rocket but they can have to find the right PF or SF to pair with him, more size; he needs 6'10 and taller w/him across the frontline, for it to work. I said we need to go after Alexsej Pokusevski of the Thunder, if they do not extend him. Center - Sengun PF - Alexsej SF - Jabari Sorry for the long explanation
