i would love to have him on this team.....he provides size and length to things this team really needs.....I also woudn't mind getting Brandon Wright from the warriors as well, High potential but the warriors are terrible at developing talent -rocketblaze
Very intriguing. Not sure how I feel about this but here are my thoughts anyway. 1. He's still very young. 2. Don Nelson has a history of not knowing how to use big men. Unless you are 7' and shoot threes then Big Whistle has always been lost with big players. Chris Webber is the best example but certainly there are others. 3. How tall is Randolph? I see him mentioned a lot as a seven footer but I see him listed as 6'10" 4. His stats are a mixed bag. 11.3 points a game, 6.5 rebs a game and 1.23 blocks a game in only 22 minutes of work. Pretty good stats. When you factor in that he takes a shot every two minutes that speaks well about his aggressiveness trying to score. He is also a good FT shooters hitting over 80% of his shots. Closer examination shows that his FG% is only .427 which is caused by the fact that almost 60% of his shots are jump shots which he only makes 35% of those. Not good. He also only takes about 4 free throws a game which also indicates that he prefers the outside shot to the more physical play in the post. Someone with his athleticism that can shoot free throws should play more in the paint where his percentages are better and he would get a chance to shoot more free throws (see Carl Landry only about 40% of his shots are jump shots). 5. He plays most of his minutes at Center. This makes him especially intriguing for the Rockets. Although he shoots only .427 thats the difference in making just one more shot for his percentage to go over .500. 6. I don't have any idea what GS is asking for him but I would certainly be willing to take a chance with him depending on what GS is asking. Still uncertain as to what I would be willing to give up though. I would not give up Carl but I would consider Luis... I would have to give it a lot of thought but I would consider it. GS would get the better part of that trade for now but the Rockets might win out on a trade like that over the long run, like 2 or 3 years down the road when Randolph is averaging 20 pts 10 rebs and 2 blocks a game.
Crash, Any trade would be for Tmac's contract and allow GS to start over, something like: Ellis, Maggette and Randolph for Tmac and Cook..... We give them expirings, we take talent and a poison contract, and they get to rebuild. DD
You did not say anything about Ellis. I would trade for him in a heartbeat. Monte is the total package IMO just a notch or so below the really elite point guards. And yes... I would trade TMac in a second for that package.
He's a 7 footer. He grew 2 inches after being drafted. Randolph also went to high school in Texas, so the Rockets could be a great fit for him and us.
DD, What else would you give up in a trade to GS. I just see no way that GS trades both Ellis and Randolph in an attempt to get rid of Maggettes contract. Ellis is only 24 years old. Don't you think we would have to throw some more value? Certainly they would want at least AB in return.
The point is that would be the type of trade that the Rockets and Warriors would pull off.... GS has shopped Ellis, Randolph, heck their whole team, but getting them would require you to take on Maggette or Biedrens as a poison pill..... I would do it...but would Morey.....? DD
They would not be doing it to get rid of Maggette, they would be doing it to get rid of Ellis and Maggette's contract..... They have Curry now, and are still pissed at Monta for last year's injury...... It would be a move for them to clear millions of cap space going forward. DD
If we pull off Tmac + Cook for Ellis, Magette and Randolph will cut off my left nut and send it to Morey. But since Morey would not want my left nut i guess i will have to keep it if the trade happens.
Like the trade, but I don't think GSW would do this. They are giving up young studs for only expirings. Unless we offer them one of our young guys like Brooks, they could get better offers elsewhere. Plus, with Monte, that would give us 3 PGs that could play. Someone gets shafted on minutes and that might not end well.
I'm a big fan of Monta's game and would love to see him pared with Trevor on the defensive side of the floor. More importantly I think he would flourish under the Adelman offense. He is truly a two way player with all star ability. Like you I think DM has his sights on someone else (Bosh) but if I could Ellis and Randolph at the same time then that is a serious infusion of youth and talent to go with a team that is already pretty damn good. I absolutely see Randolph as having every bit as much ability as Andrew Bynum and more potential.
warriors let all their players with talent go. that's what makes them the golden state warriors in the first place.
Thank you, Google: GS's GM is Larry Riley, whose first draft pick after taking Chris Mullins's job was Stephen Curry. Ellis has said he can't play in the same backcourt with Curry; and I'm thinking Riley is all-in on building around Curry; so maybe snagging Ellis with Randolph is not so far-fetched... Double-dog dare him, Morey! Mac + Cook for Ellis + Randolph + Maggette = Successful Trade Scenario per realgm: Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston and Golden State being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Golden State had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Do you know what Ellis is averaging? No way they're trading 1 superstar + 1 1/2 starters for some chicken wings.
Randolph would be a nice compliment to Yao, Maggette could work but I wouldn't touch Monta Ellis. The only thing worse than a point guard that can't make plays for his teammates is a point guard that can't make plays for his teammates but still dominates the ball. He's getting 4.3 turnovers a night on just 5 assists. His lack of playmaking ability makes Aaron Brooks look like Steve Nash. He scores at a good percentage but that is irrelevant as his inability to pass and lack of size make it impossible for him to be a positive outside of the top few fast paced teams, which we won't be once Yao comes back. He gets eaten alive in the half court and despite being a capable offensive player himself he hurts the teams overall scoring efficiency. Maybe poster just like him because he's the complete opposite of McGrady.
