Have you not seen a single game Landry has played in? He is ranked number 12 in PER and number 2 in PPG in the 4th quarter. And you're willing to throw in C-Bud who has shown excellent potential in his rookie season and a 1st round pick to boot. PLEASE let me have whatever you are drinking/smoking.
randolph's shooting has significantly regressed and his shot selection is not good. he isn't a great defender. shot blocking does not equal amazing defense. btw when you were cherry picking his "month to month" progression you left out his regression in shot blocking when he did get 30+ minutes. he couldn't average a block a game. fwiw randolph is 20th in blocks per 48 at 2.67 per 48. landry is 48th with 1.65 per 48. anyhow, randolph should be bulking up and developing a post game....not a 3pt shot. who cares if a 7 footer can hit 3. i want my big men to have a mid range and post game. randolph will never have as consistent of a jumper as landry.
I would have a real hard time trading a guy who's PER has been as high as Landry's for 2 1/2 years, is a player that can regularly score 20 with an exceptionally high FG%, clutch performer in the 4th quarter, blocks shots, rebounds and runs the floor all with a great attitude. Randolph is all about potential. I would trade for him if possible but I would be very careful about what I gave up for him. Landry would not be apart of that deal.
I will say that in Randolphs defense that his coach is Don Nelson. Nelly has never known how to use a true big man. The only superstar 7 footer that Nelly has successfully coached has been Dirk who's game mostly consisted of shooting threes at that time.
Well, this is what happened after that second dunk and the T on Randolph. Warriors rookie forward Anthony Randolph throws down a nice tip slam over Houston Rockets Yao Ming late in the third quarter, but Randolph gets in Yao's grill. Big mistake. Yao exploded for 19 in the final quarter to give the Rockets a 131-112 win on 12/5/2008. Anthony Randolph has great athletic abilities and potential, but there have been many players with great potentials that never gets "it". If we can get him on the cheap that would be great, but to trade someone like Landry that has been arguably our best player this season for him would be crazy.
In DaneB's defense he may just be predicting the future. Anthony Randolph has the "career underachiever" look that Zach Randolph has patented.
Good for you... Anyway, I'd say Scola gets traded before Landry does. He's older and has way less athleticism. The age means he has pretty much reached his ceiling and with his athleticism, well, we already know about that part. Trading Chase now would be outrageous. No matter how you look at it.
i like landry for randolph straight up with no other players/draft picks.... but to add our rookie or another player?? not a move i see happening. and are we even going to use dorsey? i thought he was in the d-league for some development? because we sure could use his strength inside.
Here is a scouting report on Randolph's offensive and defensive deffeciencies. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Anthony-Randolph-1069/
Moore out indefinitely.... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/warriors/detail?&entry_id=53668 I wonder if this might change their plans?
Of players to trade on the rockets (other than the inevitable Mcgrady trade) Landry has to be at the top of the list, followed by Brooks. His PER is usually high because he is a good scorer and rebounder but he doesn't do the things that don't show up in the box score. Our other players are productive on both ends with fewer touches. Getting Randolph would essentially be like getting a lottery pick. You wouldn't expect him to come right in and be better than Landry, right away. If he can just hold his own and show improvement we would be happy.
Honestly if you bother to read my posts then I suggest you read them completely because I stated right in the beginning of this thread that my opinion had nothing to do with the proposed deal of Landry and Budinger for Randolph and was only focused on the type of player and talent that AR possesses, because I was getting tired of hearing arm chair experts evaluating a player that they really knew nothing about except regurgitating second hand, inaccurate reports, etc.... I also stated and even posted Bay Area articles that reiterated the fact that the GSW is a dumbass organization that can be fleeced in trades when they get it into their head to let go of another talent for pretty much pennies on the dollar. I personally would not want to give up Landry or Scola in any deal the Rockets make (hard to do though if its for Randolph), and Landry in particular is a keeper because of his consistent production. Randolph playing alongside a Landry in fact with the current Rockets roster could do some serious damage running up and down the court on any team, and it would free up Randolph to do what he does best: wreck havoc without the ball, on the glass and helping from the weakside. Randolph played best last year when paired up with Turiaf or Biedrins, a true inside player type, which allowed Randolph to roam the court. Which is also why utilizing his stats from year is completely useless, because he has been playing on an Island with no big man to help him when he has been in games (its usually him and 4 guards) and his playing time has been so illogical in its haphazard allocation that Randolph has never been able to get any type of Rhythm as a player. Imagine how Landry would have progressed as a player if after a 18 and 12 performance, the next night Don Nelson inexplicably sits the young guy and starts Mikki Moore until 6 minutes left in the 2 nd half, followed by a start in the Third Quarter only to be abruptly pulled after 4 minutes never to return into the game. Those are the repeated and unjustifiable stunts that Nelson pulls with randolph. Simply put Nelson never liked the guy and never even wanted to draft him (Chris Mullin overruled him at the time, much like the Monta Ellis pick). All of which is a well known fact in the Bay Area, and has become a running joke amongst its fans, regarding whether or when Randolph would suddenly appear this game. Now as far as you questioning my allegiance to the Rockets, surely I don't have to inform you of the fact that many Rockets fans live across the country and have not lived in Houston for a number of years for whatever reason (work, family moving...) I am one of those fans who first moved to this country at the age of 4 in 1989 and while living in Fort Worth Texas became a huge Rockets fan (along with my Dad who graduated from University of Houston and loved the Dream) because of Hakeem Olajuwon and have been so since that moment. The fact that I have lived in the Bay Area has forced me to follow their team no matter what, because I have loved the NBA, and basketball was my number one passion as a kid all the way thru adulthood. And this is the only bball forum I have ever registered for or posted in, hardly the sign of a warrior fan.....So before you make asinine assumptions about other people, try asking them first. And for all of these trade proposals that the poster above and some other Rockets fans have been posting are downright delusional. The GSW are a bad org. but they are nowhere near as dumb as you think they are. First of all the only way Ellis, a budding All-star with his complete play at both ends of the court (2 weeks ago Monta Ellis guarded Brandon Roy the whole game and held him to 17 points on 4-17 shooting, all while giving up 4 inches and 20 pounds to the Blazer guard; Ellis simply shut him down while putting up 30 himself), is not going to be moved as long as a real bona fide star, ala Bosh or Amare is coming back to them in the deal. All of these Cook and filler, Battier and filler, Mcgrady and filler deals will be laughed at by Larry Riley for good reason. Monta Ellis with his recent performances has shown himself to have much more value than Brooks or Lowry who don't approach his stats on offense or defense. Randolph on the other hand can be had for a cheaper price, if Nelson gives the heave ho, and you might get him for cheap if u take Maggette bloated contract as well.
