You know Iverson wouldn't like like coming off the bench. He got angry when his coach sat down in a blowout loss.

i'd rather have the new AI: Iguodala. Better yet, give me Josh Smith whose stock is rising so high he'll be wanted by every team

Can't Kobe Bryant opt out after next summer too??!!
We can pick up Elton Brand for the MLE.
Then use our expirings for Ginobli.

    In 2009-2010
    AI
    Ginobli
    Tmac
    Brand
    Yao

But we'll lose because tmac is gonna stagnate the offense, keeping all the assists to himself and shooting 15%. He'll embarassingly defer to other players (how soft), he'll whine about his stupid scoliosis. He will get injured and the team will win a few games. Then Yao will get injured and we will play terrible despite actually winning more games.
He won't take any shots in the 4th quarter while Ginobli fearlessly attacks the rim and drops 50 points a night on 80% shooting. Ginobli will become the first option on offense after being released from the shackles of San Antonio and he will show that he is the best SG since Jordan retired.

Trade for TMac no. Add him while trading Rafer, hell yes. Ain't going to happen but its nice to dream.

I think he would be a great team mate. The problem in Denver is George Karl, saw his interview after the Lakers swept and the guy is a mental midget. Guy needs to master the english language before he can think about becoming a competent NBA coach.

I like the idea of adding Iverson. I think he would pass up the 21 mil if he get get a decent contract of like $9-10 for 4 years here in a sign and trade for bjax, head, battier. I love the intangibles that battier brings but this team needs more offense.

    Alston
    AI
    Tmac
    Landry/Scola
    Yao

We need reliable 3 pt shooting off the bench and brooks would need to emerge as a consistant 15-18 min backup. I think AI would have the same window as Yao and Tmac when it comes to a championship so I think this is a good trade for both teams. It also allows Denver to have a defender who can guard the other team's best player. That's something that the Rockets will miss but something they'd have to live with. I think for all purposes though, I'd rather have Artest or Mike Miller.

Heaven only knows how this thread has reached 4 pages with a 4 star rating?

its a nice dream (i suppose) but seriously - there is NO WAY Iverson comes here. Only person we could acquire him for is Yao, not Tmac, not expirings, certainly not MLE.

Iverson is still a top notch star in this league, and will be for yet another long contract.

    we aint getting him.

Maybe. Maybe he'd like winning a championship. I don't care if he starts either, so long as either he or McGrady or both is still fresh in every 4th quarter. I really think he'd be ideal off the bench for us though. I think he'd dominate. And if Manu can do it, I don't see why Iverson can't.

Yeah having an offensive weapon like AI wouldn't be bad. But seriously, AI + T-MAc + Yao? That would be amazing but is only possible if Ai decides he wants to come to houston and is willing to take a huge paycut. Maybe they can make him a promise...

I think offseason priority for the Rockets is to..

    Trade/Sign Maggette

    Get rid of Luther Head

    Move Chuck Hayes

Draft a defensive minded back up center so Scola and Landry don't have to rotate at center. Preferably someone thats actually tall around 7'0

Pray Francis comes into next season healthy and in game shape or draft a taller PG to back up Rafer in case Brooks doesn't pan out.

About getting rid of Chuck Hayes its not so much that I dislike the guy, but he's just offensively inept that its frustrating. I liked it better when he came in at game time situations for defense when Yao was on the court. His role is fine doing that. However depending on a 6'5 guy to play center is unfair to him, and again he's horrible on offense.

Getting of Luther Head would be nice because he chokes in the playoffs, and he's too small at his position that he gets out muscled against physical players. He's too easy for other teams to exploit on offense. The Jazz love to pick on him when he's out there.

Packaging both if you can for a good back up Center or PG would be ideal but I'd take what I could get even if it meant the subtraction of both to have more cap space for next year or to sign a good 3rd scorer like Maggette to a bigger contract.

The positive is that AI is fearless, doesn't back down and will gut his way through a game, series, whatever. He will break down defenses and can create his own shot (something the Rockets need more of).

The negative is that his game is predicated more on him having the ball. It would be difficult to fit his style into Adelman's style.

Plus, AI isn't the most disciplined defender.

And then there's the issue of his salary.

practice? we are talking about practice. not the playoffs, practice.

but seriously, as a 6th man sure if you could get him to buy into it. but not at that salary and not as our starting point guard. I think honestly TJ Ford is a better target and is probably going to be on the move and has a palatable salary number.

I doubt even the Knicks could afford that group of players, not to mention the other 8-10 contracts.

we don't need AI he is a one on one player which will ultimately diminish team chemistry... also him being in denver has not improved the team they just got swept ... we need a wing player, backup C, and a point guard that can shoot consistently and set up others... a lot to ask but I personally don't think AI is the Answer in this City... the irony :D :D :D
