For sure, but I'd rather have Brooks-Lowry than Rondo-Lowry. Especially if Bosh comes over and we need people to spread the floor.
I have a feeling that AB is nearing his potential. His passing may get better over the years due to experience. Same goes for his offense and defense. However, he will always be an undersized two guard like Ben Gordon or Nate Robinson. I will take Rondo over AB in a heart beat.
Sure... Brooks can improve but I don't think you can compare the two though. They play totally different styles on two different teams. Rondo is a beast. He's a great shooter inside the three point line, he defends, he's a great passer and is a complete work horse. He benefits from having KG and Perkins in the front court. He's been Boston's best player. AB is a different player though. He's a beast on the offensive side. He can hit the long bomb and hit his freethrows (which Rondo can't do). He's probably the fastest guy in the league. I think AB needs to work on being a better leader. He gets too upset with the refs and it shows. If he doesn't get the call he thinks he deserves, it throws him off the whole night. You're not going to get all the calls everynight. AB has to be mentally tougher and I think that will come.
Yeah, I think so, but he isn't playing much. Rondo is playing 36 mpg. Maybe they let Allen and Pierce handle PG duties for the other minutes.
I don't think we are being asked if AB can turn into RR ... but it's asking if AB can improve every single season, as RR has. I say yes ... that kind of mentality is either something you have or you don't. Yao has it, Luis has it, and certainly AB has it.
Rondo is better than Brooks and it's highly likely that Brooks will never reach Rondo's current level.
Maybe not, but you don't need a Rondo clone to win a championship.....Brooks could reach Tony Parker's level and do just fine. DD
The 2 major weaknesses in AB's game are: - Sticking to screens like glue on D - Poor decision making with the rock. Passes around players ankles when driving to the bucket, because we have no one who can alley oop dunk except Martin, Chase, and Hil. Plus Rondo is about 5 inches taller than AB. But I love AB's passion and competitiveness. People seem to forget he lit up Rondo in that late season game against the C's when they were trying to punk Scola and AB. Rondo's D comes from letting his man go in front of him and reaching from behind to knock the ball away. AB gives him fits, because he's too quick for him and can shoot coming out of the locker room.
I'm with you on the first point. Smaller players are pretty limited on defense. But not sure if he'll get good enough to be an all-star.
Lowry is not the same finisher or defensive player, doesnt have the long reach or the finishing abilities. Rondo actually has developed a better shot, something Lowry can pro add.
Morey doesn't think that. Nor does he think Brooks is Steve Nash, which is why he is looking to upgrade the team.
I hope he is successful at it, but doing what he has done so far is much easier than getting a top talent without blowing up your team. DD
Brooks was already a MIP, do not know how much room for his growth. Rondo is a totally different player from Brooks who is much more a scorer, and Rondo is already on the top two or three for all PGs, who has so many ASs, so there is no a comparison between two right now. Lowry has come common with Rodon as a PG, but he will never get Rondo level.
