    you know my call, but hey, it depends on your financial situation. If you can't afford the extra money for the 870IS, then the 1000 seems like a solid option.

    i love the canon i got. took some pics of a few girls the other weekend minus there shirts. great quality all around ;)

    own a SD1000, came highly recommened from 2 camera geeks. for the price $150~, its hard to beat. but getting to some of the features can be a hassle.

    Canon ALL the way. They make CAMERAS.

    Sony is a jack of all trades, a master of none.

    I prefer Nikon myself, but mine are SLR's as opposed to point and shoot. I just bought a D300 today! Woo hoo!

    I'm now a Canon kinda guy, but for my wife I got her the Sony Stylus this past Christmas. She absolutely loves it. She's not big on buttons and reading instructions but she took to this Sony Stylus 820 pretty quickly. Plus, the color options were good for her.

    I was impressed with the pre-sets. Oodles and oodles of them, and not just your standard close-up, distance, etc. They even have one for taking pictures of yourself.
