We're pretty much hard capped against the 1st apron. Any salary coming back in the Cam trade means we lose at least one other player. Our PG rotation was supposed to be FVV with Reed developing behind him. Bringing in a vet PG available for Cam's salary doesn't move the needle and just gets in the way of Reed's minutes.

Houston should not be either, if one listens to this board.

IMO Houston Rockets are likely middle of the pack of NBA FOs.

Why? They won a championship two years ago and 61 games last season before Tatum's injury in the playoffs ended their chances. They're still good this season despite blowing up the team over Tatum's injury and 2nd apron concerns.

That’s the lingering resonance of the Udoker!

Stone built the rockets reputation back after Morey and Harden ruined it. Everywhere those 2 go it never ends well.
They went cheap and got rid of everyone soon after. We didn't resign Ariza and to this day people hate Les.

Can't hold Tatum getting hurt against them...They certainly belong in that group.

I think you're overlooking how punitive the 2nd apron is if you think they were just being cheap. In addition to being unable to use any salary or trade exceptions or aggregate salaries in trades, there is a nasty penalty for teams that are above the 2nd apron three times within a five season span. Their next unfrozen pick will automatically be moved to the end of the first round regardless of their record.

The Celtics were already above the 2nd apron the prior two years. That means if they were a 2nd apron team this year, in 26-27, or in 27-28 they would be subject to this penalty. Their next unrestricted pick is 2031, I believe. Also, another 2nd apron penalty is that you cannot trade your 1st round pick seven years in the future. It is frozen. So they would need to completely sacrifice their 2030s for a chance to win now, which makes sense if Tatum is healthy but no sense if he has a torn Achilles.

This is about way more than money. These penalties actually have devastating long-term consequences.

Haha, Brad Stevens surely has not predicted the Thunder being that team, Spurs, Pistons already up their arse.

Not to say Houston. Healthy Tatum only makes it more interesting.

Won’t be surprised if Cam get waived soon by the Wiz. He is been getting DNP even on blow out games which is not a good sign and I doubt HOU is interested to sign him back since he ain’t Nix

Honestly washing out of the nba could prove to be good for Cam in the long run. Sometimes guys have to hit rock bottom to see things clearly. Maybe some time overseas could help his game. He’s so young, he’d have plenty of time to work his way back into the league. We know the talent is not in question. One way or another I hope he finds a way to be successful, not everyone can take the easy path. Some of us have to be humbled before the light goes on.

I don't think Cam is the overseas type, where unestablished American players are not cut any slack and don't get paid much. With his sorry, entitled attitude, he'd be like a walking target with a bullseye painting on his forehead.

Lol, there is no such thing as oversea types.

You play overseas or you got no money to live off and maintain your lifestyle.
