Cam Whitmore is going to put some pressure on some folks around here to develop or get the hell out of the way. It's going to hard to keep the young fella on the bench. Cam's potential and intensity made putting up with KPJ's BS look laughable (in one offseason of work). Cam may save Stone from his own stupidity. Stone needs clean up his mess quickly, embrace a new culture of accountability and protect the youngins from bad influence. I think the Rockets finally got something good brewing.
yeah for sure. we will see this on nights happen especially for a 19 year old. In limited minutes, it won't be as hurtful initially but if Cam is to increase his minutes load this is where he's going to have to learn the balance and how to adjust when that shot isn't going down. Good players find other ways to be impactful
Ppl were saying that he should be in g-league which is stupid he's good enough to play 20 mins a night. We gave J*sh Chr*st*pher 18 mpg in his rookie season am i supposed to believe that Cam is worse than that bum? He is a good 3pt shooter and he can cut like Kenyon which is what sengun and team needs we need cutters when Amen and Sengun are on this team.
Although I wasnt one of the ones saying that, I really didnt realize he was this good. Some other folks I dont think realized it either.
Yeah, hopefully his defense can also pick up. I'm still not sold on his decision-making or ball protection on drives unless he's got a pretty clear lane, either. But, he's still a kid. I can put up with some mistakes if he's already popping shots the way he's been, though. Hopefully he'll really end up a steal. On the plus side, I think I saw him make a pass.
It can only be a great thing for the team that he looks to be WAY better than the position he was drafted in. He could supplant Jalen. He could be the up and comer that competed with Jalen and helps push his breakout year just as much. If both become legit wing all-star calibre then he's easily sized to play the 3. He hedges a lot of bets for us in truth. If any of Green, Sengun, Tari or Bari don't work out he's an easy replacement somewhere in the rotation if he does pan out (if Sengun doesn't pan out then you can run Bari at the 5, Tari at the 4 and Cam at the 3 and still have plenty of strength/size up front.)
I still have him as a bench/3rd string wing, but if anybody in the rotation gets hurt or gets the night off then he's in. About a month or two in when nagging injuries start nagging and vets need a break, that's when we'll see him get regular burn. And I believe that's the right spot for him to be a successful rookie. Not too much pressure or too big of a role. That way when (and I'm saying when not if) he shows the growth and outplays the role the Rockets will have to start making hard decisions, consolidating the roster and such. Guy is absolutely balling though. Gotta hand it to em. This is the way.
Only the Rockets embarrassment of riches of talent is keeping him from his rightful 33 minutes a game
