My toxic trait is that I think an Amen-Green-Whitmore trio could work. Defensively Green would guard 1s, whitmore 2s, amen 3's.
It would, Amen can guard 2's, Whitmore is strong enough to guard 3's. Actually Amen can guard 3 positions imo
The clock sure is clicking sooner than most of y’all expected 8.1ppg w/ 63.2 TS in 10.5 mpg on the season.
He needed to swing the ball to FVV. FVV was ticked off when he didn’t. Other than that, he played pretty damn well tonight
There is also the offensive foul to K.Love as well. He seems to be making decisions about plays and not changing them as the events develop. Overall very talented, advanced for his age. Don't know how he fell to 20. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Just needs to reduce the tunnel vision.
I mean, Cam was drafted as a small forward. The whole forum fell into assuming he was best as a shooting guard, but I think he is big enough and athletic enough to play either position. In any case, now that Cam has worked his way into non-garbage time minutes, I hope and expect we will see him the rest of the season. Sure rather see him on the floor than Tate or Holiday. He will have plenty of opportunity to increase his playing time as the season goes on.
Yeah, Cam doesn't really replace Green. I don't think Cam likes handling the ball very much either, he really doesn't see anyone but the rim at this point.
JG continues to play like this, and Cam continues on his trajectory and play now in non garbage minutes, he will overtake that other guard spot next to FVV. He’s become instant offense with high efficiency. That’s exactly what you need and hope for Cam was drafted because he’s damn good. Just because he fell later doesn’t make him less talented. Most of you didn’t even know who he was until he put on a rockets uni. Then just read some random beat writers articles about him. Still laughing at some folks on here criticizing this supposedly slow jump shot release JG continues with his struggle, his replacement is waiting and ready for the opportunity. His play will speak for itself and organically will come together
@Clutch Are you accounting for this with Tari's minutes restrictions that Ime has in place also? I guess that restriction isn't being lifted anytime soon but in theory it just makes it less minutes available for Cam with guys healthy and available
16 minutes for Cam sounds about right to kick off the second half of the season. (And 0 for Tate, who should be gone at the deadline or at least have sat his ass down at the end of the bench.) He can work his way up simply by eating Jalen's minutes bit by bit.
I'm estimating 20-22 for him. Fred VanVleet - 37 Jalen Green - 30 Dillon Brooks - 31 Jabari Smith Jr. - 31 Alperen Sengun - 32 Tari Eason - 22 Amen Thompson - 15 Jeff Green PF 16 Aaron Holiday G 15 That would leave 11 minutes for Jae'Sean Tate and Cam Whitmore. You could trim Holiday and Jeff Green, but that's not super likely. The plan was to let Whitmore develop slowly this year, learn and be taught about the NBA game. Perhaps he's accelerating the timeline, but someone's time is going to be cut if they don't make a move.
5 - Alpi (30), Jeff (12), Jabari (6) 4 - Jabari (24), Tari (24) 3 - Dillon (30), Cam (12), Amen (6) 2 - Jalen (30), Cam (12), Holiday (6) 1 - Fred (34), Amen (8), Holiday (6) Fred 34 Jabari 30 Alpi 30 Dillon 30 Jalen 30 Tari 24 Cam 24 Amen 14 Jeff 12 Holiday 12
I mean, definitely possible. Jalen on the whole has been rough and they know it. But I don't think they're going to look to unload him. If something significant comes along, then yeah, but I tend to think it makes more sense to get serious about that in the offseason if nothing changes for Jalen the rest of the way. They know they can get better by plugging in a different guard, but I don't think this season is as important to them as some may think. They should still want to have the most upside for the future.
