I said this in the game thread, but Cam is so bouncy and gets off the floor so quick...it's legitimately amazing to watch. He also has a shot, can play one-on-one defense pretty well, and is NINETEEN! I think as the season moves along we'll see more and more of him on the floor, and he'll have more reps with and against non-garbage-time lineups
I don't know if I agree with that. To me, even if they were the most developed rookies, a serious playoff team wouldn't give them minutes in the first quarter or two of the season unless it was an emergency or they lacked good depth. That's normal in NBA history to me.
Cam reads the game fine, he is a bit too cocky though. He hangs his head a bit when he is not the focal point. But damn, he is very good as the focal point. DD
Ime is slowly giving him more and more chances. I think if he keeps his chin up and plays hard and shows progress on defense and on running the offensive system (not just ISO hero ball, as good as he's been in that regard) he will gradually inch his way into a consistent bench role. Remember Cam is only 19. We can afford to take our time with him as long as he's buying in.
I like this kid's swagger. I think Ime wants to make sure he stays humble and understands minutes are earned, not given, that's the only reason he is not getting more burn yet. P.S.: Also, he has rhythm.
I just want to see videos of our practices, I don't see how cam isnt torching Jalen in practice. He just soo much more physically imposing.
Cam reminds me of Capela and Sengun in that they all have the confidence and talent so they just cannot be denied playing time ahead of what the Rocket head coaches anticipated.
