Of course it's foolish to directly compare someone to Kobe. But also remember, Kobe at 19 was not close to Kobe. Give the kid some time and see where he ends up.
Cam Whitmore is a HUGE sleeper. He is going to be better than anyone expected. Very young, very raw, but has enormous potential.
I have no problem giving him time. It's exactly what I've been saying. However, he's nowhere near Kobe in natural talent nor work ethic
It seems too good to be true. On paper it is a well balanced, hardworking and likeable 5. We get to watch them develop and eventually dominate together from a young age. I know not everything will go smoothly but it is more enjoyable to relax and just be excited about the future of the Rockets with that 5.
It might be about cultural thing, being great at something doesnt provide you rights to be desrespectful to others' effort. You got to stay humble and value team effort. This is not condemning just concerned about underlying thoughts that *might* be in his head leading that lack of effort. I hope I am overreacting and wrong and he is just 19 LOL. Dont mind me.
Kobe was selfish at 19 too - and had to learn the team game - I am not putting limits, nor do I expect him to be Kobe, but other people on this board have used Kobe as an example for Jalen Green, so I use him as an example of a REAL player.....not some Tik Tok wannabe. DD
Many pundits regarded Cam Whitmore as a top 5 pick in last year’s draft — before the bogus medical rumors started. I feel like Cam isn't getting minutes because he was drafted later than others. It’s time to give him a shot! We need to find out if he can be the piece that puts us firmly into playoff contention.
Ok, Kobe was indeed selfish at 19 but I still don't fathom what that has do do with Cam Whitmore. Just because people (I admittedly have not seen that) ridiculously compared Green to Kobe doesn't mean you should use him when referencing Whitmore. Neither is even close. You seem to have an extreme dislike of Green. He's been really bad on the court and I think everyone would agree but it seems personal here. I could be mistaken though.
So you're saying all those teams had bogus medicals on him? That's not realistic at all. Even less realistic is saying Ime isn't giving him more minutes because he was drafted later than others. It's ok to be a fan of a player without fabricating things. End of the day hopefully we got a steal and he develops under Ime into a rotational player or better. I think we are at least a year away from seeing him contribute meaningful minutes.
March is the month when they play the Wizards, I do not see why you cannot feature Cam heavily in those games.
Do y’all think Rockets take Cam if - Podziemski was there? Seems like Rockets loved him before the draft.
Stone just looks at nbadraft.net / **** might as well take cam bruh Same thing with 2022 draft. Paolo. Chet. **** might as well take Bari. Lol.
I don't like Green's lack of ability and I think he is hurting our chances at winning games - I see all his flaws, and they require YEARS of work, so with him, I see the future of him gone, so no need to waste time with him now. DD
I don't disagree with any of that. I just would prefer to get a solid package back. He's a sunken cost but with expirings and picks you should be able to acquire a quality asset. I don't want us to give him away for free. I'd 100% trade Amen. Green, expirings and two first rouners. Come on down Devon Booker
If Brooks isn't able to go tonight, maybe Cam gets some real minutes to see what he can do. Given how Green has looked, Cam can't do much worse.
Cam's offense would probably be better than Jalen, but believe it or not his overall game likely wouldn't be. He could probably lead the team in scoring right now if he got the minutes, but he'd also jack up more shots than anyone ever has. He's way too immature and that's why he's not paying. Udoka is trying to coach him out of it, but it's going to be a while. I do think he could take Jalen's role one day, maybe sooner than we all think, but his overall game needs to get much better first.
I hear you…. I think that his body language on the sidelines is kind of weird. I chalk it up to the fact that he thinks he is good enough to play shooting guard on this slightly above 500 team. And frankly, I like coach kind of humbling him by not playing him. That being said, something has gone off the rails with Green. He isn’t this bad. so it might just not really be a fit anymore. I am of the opinion. We should be playing our young guards and trying to see which one can start. With the skillset of FVV, maybe Amen can start.
