For the first time we are seeing Jalen attack better. Cam needs to get a better trainer like the one Jalen got this summer Dashletics.
Jalen Green has been great at blowing by defenders off the dribble since being a rookie. It's literally his only elite trait so far. It's so diametrically opposite to reality that I'm assuming hes trolling.
The second line of defense is where Jalen struggled in the past. Cam blows by his defender but it's the second line of defense that gives him trouble. Good trainers can help you read those. Cam has the size, speed, and skill, he just needs to touch up on the court iq.
Jalen Green was doing things like splitting double teams on a one off the dribble as a rookie. Green came in as a significantly better ball handler. Both as rookies had a 97 adjusted ts. The difference is Jalen scored 50% of his fgs made unassisted and Cam 30%. Green didn't come in with amazing handles as a rookie. He came in with guard level handles though. Cam came in with wing level handles.
Cam don’t blow pass defender. He plays through them. His game and Jalen are completely different. Cam some probably won’t take that leap until year 4
Surpass, get by them , bully them... I don't care as long he gets the bucket. He's getting met at the rim by other defenders is my problem because it's heavily contested.
At the end of the day, it would have always been difficult to find minutes for seven prospects. At this point, looks like Cam may be the odd man out. It’ll be on him to earn back minutes.
Most coaches only run 8-9 man rotations in general while this team has literally 14 dudes who would get minutes on good teams - even if those were only as backups. The depth of this team is crazy. You have the starters, Sengun, Jabari, Brooks, Green & FVV Then the first guys off the bench - guard - Shepard, Wing Amen , Big Adams. The rotation really only has one spot left in a traditional 9 man rotation. Who's the leader in the clubhouse for that 9th spot? I think it comes down to Cam & Tari with Tari having a slight edge because he can play 3/4 where Cam is more of a 2/3 and most of the minutes at that 2/3 spot are already accounted for. It's going to be hard for Cam to find minutes .... particularly with a healthy roster.
That’s good and bad. He might be fine on another team if he doesn’t start acting like an adult professional. He needs to be patience
Yup. Last season, our starters averaged 164 minutes a game. Let's say our depth is able to bring that down to like 160. Thompson will probably play 25 minutes a game. Sheppard 20. Adams at least 15 or so. That only leaves 20 minutes between Whitmore and Eason, and I'm guessing Eason gets most of them, leaving just spot minutes for Whitmore.
Come on now, I know Tari just came back, but he clearly is ahead of Cam. Even Aaron Holiday is ahead of him and he should. Tate too.
Umm.I was there with Tari over Cam. I just don't see Holiday as ahead of Cam in the wing, SG role. Tate, I love him, he's behind Cam as well.
Come on, this must be a joke. Zero people would be surprised he if he shot 39% from 3 this season. He just had a rough preseason competing for minutes with a bunch of elite prospects. He'll bounce back just fine.
Cam is getting the DD curse. Seriously, there are only two paths he gets good rotation minutes: 1. Raise his IQ on offense from about 65 to at least 100. 2. Be a positive force on defense. I'm not optimistic with either path.
