DD being your biggest supporter is a terrible sign. KPJ better hope DD does not keep supporting him if he truly wants to turn things around, otherwise he will be back to roughing women, arguing with coaches, throwing soup and walking out of games in no time whatsoever.
Thankfully, DD rides so hard for KPJ that we're guaranteed between the curse and KPJ's own brain, that kid's gonna **** it up and be out of the league in no time. Hopefully he won't get to abuse any more women before that happens.
Cam put in enough work today to get his Journeyman Card from the Int'l Brotherhood of Masonry Workers hey-yo
" Jalen being bad is independent of whatever Cam does. Cam is more of a 3 anyway, if anything Amen/Reed would be "replacing" Green if he continues to play this type of inconsistent basketball. just like Cam, Green is not particular useful anywhere else when he bricks his 3's and misses layups.
You people...so many blinded by a myriad of motivations, and a lack of hoops recognition. Cam is going to be a superstar.
So you think Amen Thompson, the 18% 3pt shooter whose main strength is his athleticism is going to beat out Jalen who's a significantly better shooter/scorer (like by INSANE levels) whose main strength is his athleticism and apparently doesn't shoot good enough to be a starter? Cool story bro, whilst you're here, I've got this miracle tonic, only $10.99 and it'll change your life.
Neither Amen nor Reed fill the role of what Jalen represents: A star, alpha, scoring/creating perimeter wing. It's pretty obvious Reed doesn't have that kind of athleticism and Amen just plain can't shoot. For that matter, there is no player on the roster that can replace what Jalen represents. This is why it's worth bringing him back another year and pipe dreaming he turns into a great player. I definitely agree with you some people here (mainly Cam fans and Jalen lovers) need to disconnect Jalen and Cam from each other.
Cam’s body of work last season proves he can shoot. Three Summer League games doesn’t change that. If Cam shoots poorly this coming season I’ll worry. I saw some growth in other parts of his game, but I also saw some tunnel vision and other bad habits. He just turned 20. He’s got all star potential but he’s still got a long way to go. He should have been shut down after game 2. Reed on the other hand, he’s a rookie, not a sophomore rotation player like Cam. Reed should be playing at least 4 summer league games. He can benefit from the reps.
Nah. Green definitely does more for the team than just make or miss shots. A lot of the Rockets offense is generated through Green breaking perimeter defenses in the half court creating secondary and tertiary assists where players like Cam benefit from attacking closeouts.
Cam is still super young and tunnelvision/lack of court awareness on both ends are kind of his main problems. It's going to take time for him to improve in those areas (if it happens at all) and in the meantime we can expect to see some clunker games like this one. Gotta be patient with him.
Cam's one-season body of work includes his 3-point percentage plummeting after the ASB. He finished the year at 35.6%, which is mediocre. He hasn't proven anything in that regard other than he might be a streak shooter.
It's interesting, that Cam's body of work (45% from the field, 35% from 3) says he can shoot, when those numbers aint **** according to the standards proposed for a starting 2 guard in the NBA according to clutchfans...
yeah I disagree. He shot 35.9% on close to 5 attempts per game, which is very good for a rookie. In fact, he has one of the highest per 36 min scoring averages for any rookie in nba history. It’s okay if you don’t like him, but saying he didn’t shoot well as a rookie last season is simply not accurate. Of course he can improve, but he’s starting from a good place. He just turned 20.
My main point was his 3-point shooting went from good to bad. His first 20 games were good. His last 20 were not and the negative trend continued in SL. I get it. You really like the guy. I'm neutral on him and it's funny to me you think I don't like him. My criticism is objective. Even aside from 3-point shooting and "tunnel vision", Cam's skillset limitations on offense are so blatant I don't see how an unbiased person can miss them. Thanks for responding. I'm rooting for him and hope you are right.
That’s not what many people on this site think. They believe Cam is a 2 and have gone on record to say he is the Rockets “best SG”. Your last statement isn’t quite true. Green draws a lot of double teams and traps so that in itself shifts defenses and creates openings for other players including Cam who was most frequently featured with Green in the lineup. Green is also a better passer than Cam. He has a higher pass and assist% on drives. He also has a higher foul freq and sf% on iso plays. Example is the last Dallas game of the season. Green shot only 40% from the field but had 7 FT’s and 8 assists contributing in other ways when the shot isn’t there.
Cam is LITERALLY a week younger than Reed Sheppard is...obviously he has some warts in his game, but he's made progress in terms of playmaking and his athleticism is ridiculous. There's no way he'd ever have a game as bad as this SL game against the Pistons simply because he'd be yanked if he started 0-8. I have a lot of faith in him and his continued growth.
All examples of Jalen Green are from the last games of the season, because he has yet to be an average NBA SG before March. Prayers up. "Green draws a lot of double teams and traps" Good lord how I wish this was entirely true. Heavy context is required.
