I honestly think Cam's tools are louder than Tucker's. Faster, better arm, can play infield, faster bat speed, more plate discipline. Tucker was a lefty with a Ted Williams swing. Cam needs to fix his swing a little bit.
I was a skeptic thinking they were bringing him up and along too soon but he’s blossoming and who doesn’t like a blossoming flower?
I’m really tired of Espada’s public handling of Cam Smith. First the terribly uncomfortable call up with his parents. I think nook reported it was not well received in the clubhouse. And last night Espada is running his mouth about Cam playing with extra edge vs Cubs and being a middle of the order bat. Sure, maybe those things were true. It just runs completely contrary to the Astros way, as set by Altuve, Bregs, Correa, Yordan and others. Play with swagger. But all the talk is about the team. Even Cam knows to do that. Edit: I feel like Espada is the manager that players end up rolling their eyes at
Tucker is a very good defensive OF. Love King Tuck, but I'm also very happy with the results of the trade.
Yes he is a good outfielder. I don’t think I missed that after watching him for 5 seasons. He tracked balls like a spastic baby giraffe.
Baby Giraffe was what the other pitchers called Lidge during fielding practice. As in "he fields balls like a..."
That the impression I get. The team is over achieving so I can't be too upset. It's not like he's trotting out Maldy and Julks out there when there are proven better players on the bench.
Would have brought him banana pudding and claimed his success was because he didn't play him. Then again he play Julks for no reason at all. Who know why he had favorites but he did.
I'd like to know if he'd extend a couple of years now since we've started his clock early. I think we're already past his service year minimum. Think of a Bregman deal a year earlier. He still gets FA in his age 30 season. I don't know whether he's more or less likely to accept. Every player is different.
I think Cam is headed for AL rookie of the year. He is already at .787 ops and is started to lift balls to pull side. He is already a great defensive player. He is a five tool player. Great trade by Dana. I was never worried about Bregman after the trade. Paredes was hand-made for our park.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing primo prospects doing well. But there's something special when you get performances above expectations which pretty much fits most of the team this season.
