It looks like he may have found the sucker with the Cubs.

Hes on the Vegas odds. I have 10000-1 bet that he’ll win rookie of the year so based on that he’s ready for the show :)

I just don't think we will wait that long unless chas and dezenzo rake this season.

Honestly - right now he is probably a top 10 prospect in baseball based on his play this Spring coupled with last season. It is obviously very volatile though.

I think it is fair to say the Cubs would not deal Smith for Tucker if they knew what Smith would do this Spring, and I don't just mean his numbers, but the full package.

You know Brown feels like he got one over on the Cubs. I'm sure Cubs fans aren't happy considering Tucker has like one hit all spring training, and he never looks like he cares that much.

You never know but he's got star written all over him and we've got a ton of team control. Tucker has a terrible attitude. Obviously a good player though

Tucker was never going to resign. You never got the astro for life vibe from him. Maybe it was because his brother got traded. Tucker is looking out for himself.

Let's say Tucker plays for 10 more years through age 37 and Smith plays 14 years through age 35 (or 36 if he spends the majority of 2025 in AAA).

Who gets more MVP votes the rest of their careers?

    Tucker currently has 1-2nd, 4-3rd, 5-4th, 9-5th, 8-6th, 2-7th, 1-8th, 1-9th, and 4-10th place votes.

Let’s tap the brakes on MVP vote talk for a guy who hasn’t made his MLB debut yet.

Super interesting. Both guys from Florida. Both guys traded for each other. and Cam may take over Kyle's spot in Right. Will be a heck of a season if they are both consistently starting . . . Baseball Reference Comparison tool on refresh for me . . .

and that's not including the other two guys.

I do feel comfortable predicting at least 2 all-star appearances as an Astro. I know a lot can happen but I feel more confident about Smith than I was about Tucker.

That’s great but not reasonable. The All-Star level hit rate, even for prospects as highly touted as Smith, is really low. Smith is not a Correa/Bregman level prospect; he’s closer to Springer/Singleton in terms of how he’s perceived in the industry. It’s reasonable to expect Smith to be a good everyday player but banking on more than that is very likely setting yourself up for disappointment.

Predictions can be wrong but that is my hope. That being said, Cam's age 20 and 21 seasons and college and minor are just as impressive as Bregman's age 20-21 years. Cam just doesn't have the early years pedigree. What Cam does have on Bregman is about 5 inches and 20+ pounds.

The biggest difference between Bregman/Correa and Smith is that Smith’s defensive value is lower so he’s starting off with a lower ceiling. As a guy who will be an average RF/3B defensively at best, his value is almost entirely in his bat. If he doesn’t hit really really well then he’s not very valuable. Luckily it looks very possible that he should really hit well.
