This would make me sad Bro is a 6’7 230 tank who can shoot. Wonder if this is Stone or another Ime roster decision
Well very good post. Much respect to your thoughts and work to articulate a valid point. Man I would be stoked if Cam Whitmore takes a massive leap forward. He has superstar ability. But its quite apparent the reason he fell on draft night, even though he should have been picked anywhere from 4th to 6th. He is a “hard head”, maybe my use of the term “idiot” describing him is too harsh. I do think the Rockets may have seriously thought of selecting Cam Smith if Portland would have snagged Amen Thompson at #3. At least those are the optics for which the Rockets alluded vaguely. If the rumors are true that Cam Whitmore was offered as trade bait to move into the 1st round of the 2025 draft (without any takers), well that is unfortunately telling of how other GM’s were justified moving on from him before his draft in 2023. Pride is a hell of a vice, as other GM’s are likely smirking, “glad we didn’t waste a draft pick in Cam Whitmore”. So by not finding trade partners (may not indicate his potential), as it may be more based on ego than actual assessments of his talent and IQ.
I hope we keep him but if we trade him it needs to be for Ausar Thompson or Derrick White... we need a game changer back obviously.
I don’t get this obsession with Cam Whitmore, he’s Terrence Williams 2.0 We had a better player than him that we just traded (Jalen Green). And to Jalen’s credit he improved defensively and was a better playmaker than Whitmore. Cam is a volume shooter, he’s limited with the ball, and does not create for others. This would all have been forgivable if he played defense and brought hustle - which he also does not. It’s telling last season that Ime at times played Reed Sheppard over Cam. It’s also telling he hasn’t been moved yet… if the rest of the league believed in his potential like some of the folks here - he would have been moved by now.
I thought trading away JG and DB would open give Cam an opportunity to prosper. I have a feeling Cam will have a better career than JG.
I like him better than those two - Tari I love, he was my favorite player but his leg concerns me, and the lingering pain too, but mostly because Amen plays the same spot better - Bari isn't a great athlete or have a high BBall IQ - and he is going to get a new contract - so if you can flip him for a better version of him - then awesome.... I believe Cam will be better than both of them and not by a little bit but by a lot. DD
Or, and stay with me here. The Rockets believe in him and don't want to trade him. WOAH !!! MIND BLOWN ! DD
If they trade Cam, Im sure it says a lot about the direction they are headed. Slow it down and defense! JVG style
ROFLMAO - well played, I laughed... Don't worry about to hit the wineries with my wife for the afternoon, it will be a Cam "defender" free zone for a while. Have at it. Also, if I were his father, he wouldn't be hanging his head - he would have worked that out as a kid....POUT LATER - PLAY HARD.... Oh, I call that the blown opportunity to win a ring style. DD
We'll disagree on Jabari. I think he has potential to be a star. He has the length, can score at all three levels, plays good defense and he's only 20 - 21yrs old. I just wish we had an offensive mind within the coaching staff
