He went to trial, he was found INNOCENT. Seriously, what good is our legal system when a man goes to trail, comes out innocent and is still labeled guilty? Why not skip the bull and make everyone who has been accused, guilty off the bat?
AGREED! It is probably one of the most frustrating things about people and it happens all the time! Once it is in your head just can't let it go. Perhaps I am a bit of an optimist and tend to hope for the best in people BUT regardless the guy went to court and was found innocent WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT?!
Im happy for Calvin Murphy because he deserves to be back. He went to trial and was found not guilty. He has the right to continue his career and passion. Hes been great for the Rockets and the city.
The guys has paid his dues to society and obviously the Rockets see more in him than you yourself do. If he was a bad father that's his perogative and his family business decisions should not invlove us. He was pronounced not guilty by the court systems and you can't say that was just because he was a famous player. I'm sure the DA was working twice as hard on the other side of the court room to get this black HOF basketball player off the streets if he truly was a pedifile. With that being said.... Don't let the door hit ya on the way out! Peace.
I'm not real thrilled about him coming back either. I'll still support the team and watch the games though. I was a huge fan of Calvin as a player and went to many Rocket games in the 70's. However, when I heard he had fathered so many children with so many different Women, I lost all respect for him as a person. People can say it is not my business all they want, what he did was wrong. Calvin has paid a steep price for the many poor choices he made in his personal life, and I suppose he may deserve a second chance, but I won't be leading the cheers if he comes back.
You can remain in the back of the room, but I know I'll be elbowing my way to the forefront of cheerleaders for Calvin's return. When this is finally confirmed, I will know the Rockets will be whole again.
hmm...is THIS "the change" that DM was talkin about???? How about we UN-Retire that #23 and get Calvin to suit up and teach these boyz a little something-soemthing about how to shoot some damn FTs! I gotta say...Calvin adds so much more than Clyde does. He brings a passion to the broadcast and tells it like it is. Bullard brings a lot of great insight and explains the game very well for people who dont play basketball at that level. Clyde brings nothing but "clubs for baby seals"...
FIVE of his daughters accused him of sexually abusing them over the course of several years when they were young. He pleaded not guilty and was found not guilty, but so was OJ Simpson. That just means that the jury could not find him “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.” I appreciate that you still have some concern with justice, unlike some others on this board. But I disagree with you that we don’t have any responsibility to bring some justice. We have our own role as fans to influence who we want to hear every time we turn on a Rockets game.

No, that is not correct! He was found “not guilty,” which only means they couldn’t say he was “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.” They could have still been 90% certain he was guilty but thought that a 10 percent chance he was not guilty was a “reasonable doubt.” Three jurors actually found him guilty during the first jury vote, but later changed because they said the case was not proven “beyond a reasonable doubt.” At least one other juror said he still may have been guilty, but she didn’t think the prosecution met the higher standard either. Here’s a link to the story: http://www.click2houston.com/news/3979374/detail.html Look, I understand how people may want to deny this. I don’t like it either. But won’t you admit there’s still a really good chance that he was guilty. I don’t see how you can deny that when he had FIVE daughters willing to say that about their own father. It’s not like he’s looking for a job in the back office. We’ll have to see him and listen to him every time the Rockets take the floor. Do you really want that in the back of your mind every time you watch the Rockets that you could be listening to someone who sexually molested his own children? I don’t!
I know our legal system makes mistakes—apparently you don’t. So from your comment, you believe that unless someone has to believe every decision juries make is accurate, they don’t respect the legal system. So from your own logic, you apparently believe OJ Simpson was innocent and anyone who doubts that doesn’t respect the legal system either. Is that what you think?
I actually talked with Calvin when he came to the store I was working at and asked him when you coming back to do rockets games and he told me if it was up to him he would do it now and then cracked a joke about how the money wouldn't hurt either. This was when he first started at 97.5FM espn radio. Good guy.
I can't believe the canceled the Calvin Murphy show on 97.5, I thought it was his decision to leave because he had other opportunities with the NBA. Just read the article on chron.com I actually enjoyed listening the program, like his take on the rockets, wish he would get back with the organization.
