One of our only good 3 pt shooters (on spot-ups). Ime will help him reach a higher high. Then we can talk trades.
Anyone have a sense to what size rotation Ime favors? 7? 8? 9? Depends on who does what? It will be interesting to see who ends up on the outside looking in. I
Coach has a lot of players futures in his hands. The players have a lot of work ahead. We as fans have a lot to look forward to. The Rockets as a product have so much promising positive potential. Patrick & Stone thank you.
People don't want to hear it but I honestly think Jalen and Alperen's long term prospects with this team are not good if they can't become at least average defenders. Ime isn't the type of coach to allow that. I could see us having ONE underperforming defender if they become the engine behind an extreme level of offense aka Jokic, but definitely no more than that.
I agree, but I honestly think both of them have the tools and work ethic to become average-ish, and not too many 19-21yo players are good defenders yet. Going to have to wait and see if they actually manage it, but they've said the right things in terms of appearing to have the motivation and I don't see anything physically preventing them from doing it.
He might, but we need to find that out, he also might prove that he has gotten out of his way as he says, and just accept the competition and excel. DD
I need to see it to comment, so here goes... Alphabetical Team Roster: (15 reg contracts and 3 two-way deals) 1, SF - Brooks, Dillion 2. F- Days, Darius (2-way) 3. F - Eason, Tari 4. SG - Green, Jalen 5. PF - Green, Jeff 6. G - Holiday, Aaron 7. G - Hudgins, Trevor (2-way) 8. C - Landale, Jock 9. SG/SF - Porter, Kevin 10. C - Sengun, Alperen 11. PF - Smith, Jabari 12. SF - Tate, Jae'Sean 13. PG - Thompson, Amen 14. PG - VanVleet, Fred 15. SG/SF - Whitmore, Cam *Barring any additional trades, this is where we sit now as far as I know. We have 3 roster spots available (including 1 two-way contract). I could see Hudgins being signed, which would open up a 2-way. I haven't seen enough from Days to justify signing him, so perhaps a SL guy like Mayer or Samuels gets a deal or a 2-way contract (maybe both). Hinton has looked great on defense, but has a ways to go on offense. Would be a good G-League development guy. We also have a few FAs of ours out there like Boban that we could add to the roster, but not sure how Ime feels about that kind of roster management. 5: Sengun (33) and Landale (15); Bari could get 5-7 minutes in small ball lineups or if foul trouble happens. 4: Smith (33) and Eason (15); Jeff Green sees 5-10 minutes in certain line-ups and for back-to-backs. 3. Brooks (30), Eason (5-7) and/or Porter, Tate or Whitmore (11-13). 2: Green (33), Porter (15); Whitmore could see some minutes here as well. 1: VanVleet (32), Thompson (16); Holiday or Hudgins when we need shooting. That's easily a 9-man rotation (Sengun, Landale at 5; Smith/Eason at 4; Brooks/Eason/Porter at 3; Green/Porter at 2; FVV and Amen at 1). That's not counting Tate, Whitmore, Jeff Green or Holiday. We may start the season with something similar to the above, but have to believe a trade will happen because I can't see Whitmore not getting minutes at some point during the season. He may earn them in training camp and guys like Tate and/or Porter are traded or released. Ok, what did I miss or how would you adjust the above?
Good point. KPJ might be the best 3-point shooter on the team, barring a breakout season by Bari. Let's see how "deep" are the Rockets without a consistent 3-point shooter in the lineup.
There is a real possibility the ‘big 3’ in a few years is Amen, Bari, and either Sengun/Green. It will be extremely difficult to keep all 4 financially.
