He already purchased the fountain dispenser. I doubt you can get cheaper than $50 a box, try Sams. The syrup boxes is for commercial use and I doubt you can find any place selling them cheaper than the source. If you can find it cheaper than $50 a box...hook me up with the details. =]

well it looks like im gonna have to buy this "back-flow" device that is now required for all post-mix machines. The device costs 1200.00-1500.00 and it has become a city regulation. Im not sure what i am gonna do.

I was thinking; since I am making old-fashioned fudge and homemade pies and things associated with the 1950's..........about purchasing the syrup from Sams and making the drinks like they did back in the day. I just turned 28 but i remember going to a pharmacy where the "soda jerk" would squirt straight coke syrup into a glass and then adding the carbonated water then stirring it for a second..........then serving it to us. I know it would take some time.....but I could control the sweetness (everyone here says...the sweeter, the better) and it would be in line with that genre. Any thoughts, comments, ideas?

To do that well, you would need a decent setup; ie. soda fountain circa 1950. That would set you back a grand, easy.

For drinks, I'd go with regular soda can variety, such as Mr. Brown's; every good food store has those. And for the regular fountain drinks, you can order those in 1950-style bottles.

If you're looking to spend any money, my take since this is already a start up would be to get a deep fryer for fries and onion rings that could go with the CFS, probably a grill for burgers, and possibly include homemade fried chicken.

well since im having all these issues regarding my post-mix machine.............i have someone who is going to be buying it. Ive decided to go to the "old-style" way of making a coke. Im gonna be adding the syrup to the carbonated water the way it used to be done in the 50's. Ive got the setup for it now.

Well I decided that I am going the "old-fashioned route" and its the best Dr. Pepper that I have ever tasted. I think ive got it down to a science. Everyone here likes it sweeter.
