Despite what James harden says his turnovers are a nonissue and within an acceptable range for a player of his usage.
They are not acceptable if you are the primary playmaker. He needs to average more assists. Honestly the game we lost to OKC was amazing, he was playing EXACTLY how he should play and got 16 assists, now the late turnovers hurt us, but overall we were able to hang with them because Harden was playing playmaker more often. That is how this team will win if we can get Harden to a 2+ to 1 Assist to turnover ratio... DD
James Harden still does not place a high value on possessions and the day that changes is the day the team will take a huge step forward IMO.
I would agree if he weren't on pace to break the season turnover record. Although, that being said, Lin had a really high TOV rate back in the Linsanity days and his team was still winning games. James isn't the reason we are losing, but our record would be a lot better right now if he could cull his turnovers as well as play at the rate he is.
Yes our record would be better if Harden cut down on his turnovers. Yes our record would be better if other players cut down on thier turnovers. Our record would also be better if our players hit more shots. Our record would also be better if our players got more rebounds. Our record would also be better if our players hit free throws at a better rate. Harden's turnovers won't change however, because it is fairly standard for a player to turn the ball over at that rate. What can change, is getting better surrounding players, who can actually hit shots, rebound the ball, and shoot free throws better.
J.R., this is precisely my main gripe on Harden's turnovers...the particular ones that are "pocket passes." Those are the killer TO's. Harden is being swarmed, there are too many arms and legs in the way and they tend to be "live ball" TOs that go the other way for fastbreak baskets. Just too damaging. If Harden cuts down on the pocket passes I think that will go a long way.
It all starts with poor angles on the screens by both Harden and the big man. Poor fundamentals, bad coaching.
This is just wrong. He's turning it over worse than he did last year and worse than other high usage players. It can change because he freaking did it last year.
Very good. Lets look at some other facts. Harden is scoring more points this season. Harden is making more assists this season. Harden is committing more fouls this season. Harden is playing more minutes this season. Harden is taking more shots this season. Harden is getting to the free throw line more this season. WHAT, HARDEN IS TURNING IT OVER MORE THIS SEASON?!? MY GOD, WHAT AN *******.
