it's one thing to criticize the organization's moves. it's another to totally turn your back on them. frankly, i can't see myself pouring my heart into another team not from Houston. did i hate this trade? hell fukin' yes! does it mean i won't watch them. hell fukin' no!

I came to this BBS because of Yao, I watched Rox game a lot because of him. But right now I feel I lose a lot of interest in Rox and I am not that enthusiastic about Yao anymore. I think it is because I already know what kind of basketball organization Houston Rockets is and what kind of player Yao will be. And the fact is there are far better basketball teams in the NBA and there are far more exciting players than Yao in the NBA.

Nonetheless, I still visit this board a lot because this board is truly awesome. So I kind like follow a team because of a fan forum. It is strange.

After all this anticipation. After following the draft progress for over 3 months. After reading mock draft after mock draft. Scouting report after scouting report. Rumor after rumor. Message board after message board.

I was all excited about the draft on Wed June 28. Going to the Toyota Center to witness the Rockets picking a new top draft prospect.

I was one of the few who said I know somehow the Rockets are going to screw up the draft. We all have seen it before, but kept a positive attitude. I was also in the minority that wanted the Rockets to stay pat at #8, hoping that one of the top 6 will fall and not wanting to get rid of Luther Head, because we do not want to lose depth and youth.

After the first 5 picks, everything was going according to the way I anticipated. Now Roy was picked at #6. I thought it not a total lost, the Rockets might have some deal with Minnesota. Also, Gay was still on the board. We were all praying for Foye to be called next at #7. After he was called the crowd at the TC erupted in joy. Gay in now available to us at #8.

Before the anouncement of the Rockets pick. I started to ask myself. Is this too good to be true. Will the Rockets screw up again and not draft Gay. Will they trade the pick. Moments later, before the Rockets pick we hear on TV that indeed the Rockets traded the pick to Memphis and the Rockets will be picking for them.

At that point, I did not know how to react when David Stern went to announce the Rockets pick. Do I want the Rockets to take Gay and hand deliver him to the Grizz. Or, let the Rockets draft Gay and the trade might not be true. Or should the Rockets draft someone else.

When the annoncement of Rudy Gay to the Rockets began, I had a subdued cheer. This trade for Battier came from no where. With all the rumors, this was not one of them.

As I said, I had a gut feeling the Rockets management are going to screw up the draft and they did not disappoint.

This is the price that we pay as Rockets fans.

The Key is that they need to renew their contract, they need to get the wins in this coming season.

    Too bad for our fans.

Agreed. We should have requested something like they have to sign and trade bobby jackson along with shane battier or something along that line so that we can fill up a need at another spot also.

But as a Rocket fan ever since I saw the Dream Shake for the first time and went outside to try and do it, I have LOVED the Rockets (even though I have suffered almost 5/6 years of laughter from friends and family who are Laker fans and they went into championship mode) and refuse to give up.

I guess we all define FAN differently...at least to different degrees.

It took me almost 7 years to pick the city that I wanted to be a fan of. But once done, no way in hell I'd ever change. To me, changing fan-ness is like changing religion...you'd better have a darn good reason.

Bad seasons and bad drafts don't make a reason...to me.

Hell, I quit watching football once we lost the Oilers...really. I tried and tried to watch other teams but just couldn't. I can't even get into the Texans.

I have and always will be a Houston Rockets fan.

And that you can take to the bank.

And you can also bank on WC finals next year. I believe in T-mac & Yao.

I was the first one in chat last night to say that if this trade actually does happen, I won't watch a game next year.

Most likely I lied. I will be shaking my head everytime I see JVG on tv though. Clutch pretty much summed up my thoughts in his recap. Gay falling to the Rockets was basically the best thing that could have happened to us in this draft. Then we trade him for a role player. I went through a full range of emotions in about 5 minutes from Foye going 7th to ESPN announcing the trade.

It's a stupid trade. I don't understand how the Rockets believe that Swift has no trade value. I think either is worth more than Battier. To give up both is ridiculous.
