You don’t know who PHX asked for. All we know is what the Rockets ultimately gave them. And there was absolutely no way the Rockets were ever going to give up Amen.
First you say “I don’t know if PHX will keep him” then say “they specifically asked for Green”? The truth is, PHX didn’t want Green but had to lower their asking price. I wish no ill to Jalen but he is now all he is ever going to be—a good but streaky NBA player.
Jalen could be great off the bench or in a situation where you don't rely on him every night. He's too inconsistent right now for anything else, and this is coming from someone who still believes in the guy.
Regardless of whether or not he thrives with his new team, shoot, even if he becomes the MVP and best shooting guard of our era...it has nothing to do with us anymore. But as I said in another post--if he had played the way lots of us believed he could've, he'd still be here and this thread wouldn't even exist. Jalen's tenure with the Rockets is over and there's no point in pining over him or saying that the trade was bad or whatever. He's not a Rocket anymore, and while I hope the best for him because it seems like he's a great kid, there's no way in hell any true Rockets fan should even think about jumping ship over this. And for the people who don't like the trade: Firstly, we now have an insanely long and switchable squad on defense with a true offensive go-to guy in the clutch. Secondly, speaking as someone who will miss Jalen...I won't need to stress over how well Jalen plays, or if he's in a good rhythm, or whether or not people can see what I see, etc etc. Less stress means more fun! And plus, Jalen will just a click away on NBA league pass anyhow. It's not like he was sent to Siberia, he's still going to be an NBA starter lol
There is a report floating around that we offered Jalen and Jabari at the trade deadline. I'm glad Stone renegotiated with Brooks and #10 going out. Good luck to Jalen. Let's see if Phoenix re-routes him before the start of the season.
True, not ruling out a reunion someday. But he'll need to do a lot of work first, and if he does make it back to the team, I hope it's as someone who we actually want and not as a thrown-in role-player or something. With my Rockets-colored glasses off now, I can evaluate his game a little more objectively and there are major holes that he needs to improve on in order to make good on the potential our front office (and so many others) saw in him.
I hope he gets traded to the east so I can kind of root for him. I had my issues with Jalen but still think he has a decent shot of becoming a star. If we don’t make it to the finals in the next two years and Jalen becomes even a simple all star, I would consider this trade a failure.
I think he's basically on borrowed time now. He's probably not going to play for a contender for the rest of this new contract, so it's really up to him now to live up to his potential by the end of it. He'll probably get the opportunity because he'll play for a bad team. He let me down too many times for me to actively root for him any more tbh. Good for him if he does make it, maybe if he is a late bloomer we may see him in the playoffs someday to watch Amen crush him and make him cry a bit. I'd only remotely consider him coming back if he was genuinely fully broken out as a Kobe though, I'd rather get a different 6th man if we need one. Only way I'd ever want him back is if he's the superstar asking out of his shitty team to a contender - anything less and he'd still owe us our draft pick back LOL.
Hope this change of scenery sparks him to take it to the next level. That was not happening here, and I’m glad we’ve moved on.
This thread feels like a breakup monologue. He's gone and just not that good for us. He'll be fine lol
