Steve Francis should play over Rafer. My goodness. How much more do we need to see. I know it's one game but damn.

This cuts right to the heart of the Rafer Madness!

Even coach said he expected Francis to be the starter.

Over the past 2 years we have seen Rafer's play and many of us wonder how both Francis and James could possibly be worse. Why do continue to delude ourselves that this is going to be a sold team if Rafer is playing significant minutes? I think Coach just hasn't seen what we have for the past 2 years.

Definitely, eveyone cries "it's only preseason" or "it's just one game" but it's not. If this were his first season with us, you would and should give the benefit of the doubt, but this isn't.

    Rafer was terrible last night.

But he did some good things and was certainly not approaching his average game.

Mike James was good last night.

But he did some bad things and played a little above his average game.

    5pts, 8asts, 7rebs, 1stl, 4TO

I for one will not complain about that.

Don't worry my friend, at some point Francis will get the nod over Rafer. Looks to me as if Adelman wants the rockets to get a good start. It's hard to watch Alston out on the court though.

Those are not common, for him.

This can't happen soon enough. I'm sure once Rafer gets buried deep on the bench his fragile ego won't be able to take it and we'll have more incidents like those in the offseason that will distract the team. Hopefully then Rafer will be gone for good and the Rockets will be better because of it.

The Rafer Alston experiment in Houston has been a complete and utter failure. He just not a good player.

Um...maybe because we won 52 games in the West last season despite numerous injuries and we've now added more pieces? Oh forget it...you're right. The Rockets were a piss-poor team last season.

Furthermore, the reason we lost to the Jazz was all because of Rafer. It had nothing to do with the poor, inconsistent play of our two superstars or our complete lack of a bench.

8 assists is an uncommon stat for Rafer? Are you kidding me?

I'd say the 4 TOs are far less common. Rafer has logged lots of 7-8 assist games with 0-1 turnovers while with the Rockets. That has never been the issue with him, the issue is that he's shooting is extremely streaky - he's great on some nights and awful on others.

Yeah, if had just made two more of those shots he would have gone from playing the worst game in NBA History to an actually pretty decent performance. It's a fine line isn't it?

He barely average over 5 assist last year, which is common for him, not 8. He was usually a 5-6 assist guy and sometime had more, but not many. If that were the case they would be comparing him to Nash.

If 8 assists is uncommon for Rafer, 1-6 should be considered uncommon too.

8 asts and 7 rbs in only 28 minutes for a pg is good enough for me. That is Jason Kidd's type of number per minute wise.

No, 1-6 shooting is not common, he only took 6 shots. History shows us that Rafer will not have a lot of games where he has 8 assist and definitely not 7 rebounds, but also not 4 TO's. Do you really want to compare him to Jason Kidd?

rafer made some bad decisions down the stretch last night, but so did the rest of the team....I'm critical of Rafer, but he is still the only true PG that this team has...........unless we can get a real PG from a trade I suggest everyone be content with what we have...............

History also showed Rafer normally makes more than 1 with 6 shots.

No, I'm not trying to compare Rafer with Kidd, skillwise or salary wise. I just feel Rafer gets treated by Rockets fans unfairly. You'd think 8 assists and 7 boards in 28 minutes is very good for a PG with 5 mil salary, yet, he's treated like he just had the worst pg performance ever in Rockets history.

    Rafer > Francis

I agree.........we have James to compensate for Rafer's inept shooting....Rafer doesn't turn the ball over much is good at setting up the offense and is a decent shooter from behind the arc.......I hate the tear drop layups as much as the next man, but I think we could have worst at the position.................I'm more concerned about the Rockets offense jelling and Yao getting more touches in the paint than I am with rafer...
