As my wife's OB/GYN says, "the proof is in the pudding." If you haven't seen how Fox just flat out lies, then you need to open your eyes. For God's sake, a freaking comedy show outs their truthiness on a nightly basis, look up any of the TDS clips where they talk about Fox, they have such clips at least twice a week. However, I will be happy to provide some specific examples just so that you will tuck tail and run... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...y-says-no-one-fox-raised-issue-jail-time-not/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...beck-claims-governments-cash-clunkers-web-si/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...r-claim-photo-shows-millions-tea-party-prote/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2010/mar/12/fox-pumps-texas-textbook-war/ http://www.politifact.com/texas/sta...or-rick-perry-says-hes-never-fielded-phone-c/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...reilly-blames-obama-administration-not-pursu/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...y-accuses-media-not-following-foxs-lead-anit/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...nd-others-repeat-claim-white-house-political/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...timulus-package-really-include-300000-sculpt/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...y-claims-loophole-cash-clunkers-program-woul/ So, there are ten of the results from the first two pages of the Google query "fox news site:www.politifact.com" (without the quotes), for which there were 321 results. In other words, half of the results from my sample of that query were stories that Fox ran that Politifact rates as either "false" or "pants on fire false." Fox is a bunch of liars and MSNBC is hardly better.
well I can't speak for the presidebt, haha that's kind of funny given your support of cut tax start war president, but anyway I understand people who watch fox are of that mindset to begin with.
BS. MSNBC is biased, I'll admit, but show me where they've "lied." Not where they've gotten something wrong and then corrected the mistake, but where they've lied. Bias is not the same as lying. Not even close.
In order to be as unbiased as I like to think I am, I am doing the exact same search with MSNBC, here are my results... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ann-says-rep-hoekstra-tweeted-whereabouts-to/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ultz-says-mcchrystal-was-obama-problem-inher/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-claims-palin-got-zero-support-her-idea-only/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...franks-says-top-1-percent-pays-over-half-ent/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-clinton-and-reagan-all-pushed-taxes-higher-/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ann-says-oil-and-gas-subsidies-account-88-pe/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...eu-says-louisiana-doesnt-get-one-single-penn/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...mistakenly-lowballs-number-people-eligible-p/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...in/durbins-tax-reduction-claim-doesnt-cut-it/ http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ays-oil-royalties-trail-only-taxes-generalti/ On the first two pages of the search "msnbc site:www.politifact.com" (sans quotes), I came up with exactly ten that were either false or pants on fire false. For the sake of accuracy, there was only one that was pants on fire false versus Fox, which had four or five. So, I will stand by my assertion that MSNBC is "hardly better" than Fox.
Boy, that's going to take me a lot of time to wade through. And I guess I'll have to look at the reports on Fox too in order to respond. I will try to do so, though it might have to wait for a couple weeks. I appreciate your response though.
A lot of these links are to comments by right wingers while being interviewed on MSNBC - darrell issa, trent franks or by joe scarborough, the network's designated con.
Well, if the untruths are coming largely from conservative commentators or guests, I hardly think you've met your burden here. Let me know when you have some actual evidence that MSNBC is anywhere near in the same ballpark as Fox in terms of dishonest reporting as you previously suggested they were.
As far as I am concerned, they are just as big a part of the problem. Not ALL of the untruths mentioned were by conservatives, I noticed as I copied and pasted the links that at least one of them was made by Maddow. Fox and MSNBC get their viewers riled up and angry at one another. They pit one side against the other and cause us to fight one another instead of working to solve our country's problems. They are more interested in advertising dollars than the truth and I refuse to watch either of them or even CNN (save during hurricane coverage). I agree that Fox takes the lies to an egregious level, but MSNBC has exactly the same bias from the other end of the political spectrum.
Bias, not lies. Post MSNBC's "lies." Not the things that were EVER uttered on that channel that turned out to be wrong, but willful lies -- and ones that did not come with later retractions and apologies. You've posted that thing about not watching cable networks ("except CNN for hurricane coverage") so many times I almost hear it in my sleep, but not everybody shares your taste for equating bias with dishonesty (and it was funny, given your repeated claims of superiority as evidenced by the news sources you favor, to see you cite AP - a source that has had a ton of problems that way over the last few years). I don't care that Fox is biased; I care that they regularly employ dishonesty in service of that bias. MSNBC doesn't and you were wrong to say it did. Prove me wrong.
I don't have to prove you wrong, my basic premise is sound. They are a biased organization that is more entertainment than news. They are a perversion of journalism and only deserve attention from partisans, just like Fox.
Show me the Maddow "lie." If she was truly lying and not just mistaken, and if she didn't retract wrong information and apologize, I will cede the point.
I don't need you to cede the point, my point stands. MSNBC is biased and as a result, I won't watch them.
Biased just like Fox says it. I am not claiming they lie or twist facts as much as Fox. I am not claiming they have a hidden agenda like many believe Fox does. However, they are blinded by ideology, just like Fox.
Well, you shouldn't read the AP either (LOL). I don't care at all what you watch. And I'm quite familiar with your viewing schedule; you've posted it here many, many, many times. But saying that "Fox is a bunch of liars and MSNBC is hardly better" clearly implies that MSNBC lies. If you can't show the "lies" that MSNBC has told, man up and admit you were wrong to say that.
When I read this BBS, I know who is biased and in what direction. That doesn't stop me (or you) from reading the posts of biased people. (In fact, as an aside just to try to bring you down off your high horse a little, you are clearly biased too, at least in favor of drug legalization.) But there is a BIG difference between knowing you can expect my posts to contain a liberal bias (as yours predominantly do too by the way) or that weslinder's will contain a conservative one than expecting the posts to contain misinformation in service of that bias. THAT'S what's wrong with Fox. And when you say "Fox is a bunch of liars and MSNBC is hardly better" you are calling MSNBC liars. If you're gonna do that, at least back it up.
