The Knicks and Mavs have several I believe.... but we're not getting McGrady without giving up Francis. Probably couldn't get him for Francis and change either.

You can throw the Lakers in there as well. Kobe + Shaq. Shaq's contract is really the size of 2 max players since it was done before the last CBA. Sprewell and Garnett equall 3 Max contracts as well since Garnett's deal was before the latest CBA.

A team can support more than 2 max contracts but they then have to be willing to pay the Luxary Tax.

    McGrady for Francis

Does anyone think that a move involving the Rockets and Magic is a possibility? The Magic are afraid that they are going to get burned like they did with Shaq if McGrady becomes a free agent. They could be interested in making a straight swap for Francis. I think this would be a steal for the Rockets if they could pull it off. The combo of Yao, Jackson and McGrady would be a force to be reckoned with. Anyone else have a take on this? If I am Carol Dawson, and if this were available, I would pull the trigger on this in a heartbeat!

For those that want T-mac for Stevie!!!!!

First of all, T-mac is a great player, but he is very injury prone. Steve Francis is very durable during the long haul of the season. Don't think that the combo of Yao and T-mac can ultimately destry the league. T-mac has been on a losing team in the EASTERN CONFERENCE. Steve has proven he can play in the west. I'm not sayin, T-mac can't. But, T-mac is on a very bad team. The Rockets are a good team, not great. I personally would not deal T-mac if it involves giving up Francis. Guys like T-mac, and Elton Brand are all injury type players. Steve is very durable. Why would you do this deal?? T-mac has back problems, and that is not good for a young player to have back problems at a young age. Also, T-mac is a ballhog. He is not a team player. He tries to be the man like Kobe. Please chime in.. SAY NO TO T-MAC AND ELTON BRAND IF WE HAVE TO GIVE UP STEVIE...........

Isn't this really kind of a moot point? I don't think our chances of gettign T-Mac are about equal to our chances of getting KG.

Absolutely not equal. KG is untouchable. McGrady is on the blocks.

We have an All Star point guard for starters and (if you've paid attention) McGrady has a huge say in where he wants to go because no one is going to trade for him without a contract extension. And he won't sign the extension unless it's a trade to a team of his liking. And he likes Yao. Not to mention Garnett makes $14m more than McGrady and that alone would gut the Rockets' roster.

Okay, so equal is a bit of hyperbole. I just don't see this deal happening. I don't know why, maybe it's a gut feeling more than anything else.

I have just read so many get Elton Brand, get Lamar Ododm, get Rasheed Wallace, etc. posts that I'm not even going to allow myself to speculate on our chances of gettin T-Mac.

I guess I should have just stayed out of the thread. Sorry. Carry on.

If there is a chance to pick up T-Mac this summer, CD will have to consider an offer.

Your reasoning for not wanting T-Mac isn't completely right. You forgot that T-Mac single handedly carried the Magic to the playoffs and if you look at his team (and how crappy they are) you would understand why they were the worst team.

Trust me, if you were T-Mac, you'd be just as much of a ballhog. W/o T-Mac, that team might not have won 5 games. Also, I wouldn't say he is not a team player when he doesn't have a team. T-Mac is looking for help and he knows he can't do it by himself.

    Just keepin' you honest. ;)

There's nothing wrong with intuition. There are lots of players mentioned in trades that I just have an initial thought of "that won't work". I'm on the fence about McGrady.

Regarding gut-level feelings...for a very long time, mine has been lots of player movement in the NBA this summer. Just not KG. :)

I hope you're right, and I hope we are able to take advantage of it this time. It seems like we're always sitting on our hands when the good trade opportunities come along.

T Mac is a long shot, players just don't match up IMO.

T Mac playing on a 19 consecutive loss team? I cannot fathom any other great, great player 'allowing' that to happen. That's the stuff a Moochie-led injured Rox team could face, and that stopped at15!

T Mac needs a JVG-type coach. He needs demands put on him that he will respond to.

Yes, come to Houston, T Mac. I just don't see how withOUT at least a three-way deal.
