time played doesn't dictate ability or lack of noobiness. Sorry sir! Also assault rifle has been the starting weapon for every version of halo ever (except odst) Are you talking about the battle rifle?
Wrong. The assault rifle didn't even exist in Halo 2...it and the pistol were combined to form the battle rifle. The assault rifle doesn't require any skills at all to use, and isn't really all that effective when you're going for a quick, precision kill. Halo 3 was too focused on cqc, which I don't care for too much. I may be in the minority, but I don't care, doesn't make my opinion wrong or ill-informed, just means its my opinion. And my opinion is that Halo 3, Gears, MW...none of their online modes really grabbed my attention all that much. But I love all three because of their strong single player campaign. And while MW didn't have too much of a story and was a little short, the action was deeply engrossing. "All Ghillied Up" is probably among my favorite levels for a fps.
Please tell me there are NO timed missions in the campaign. I hated those in MW1. It took me months to complete some of those levels.
My mistake it's been forever since I played halo2 -- either way my original point stands. Single player is something you mess with once or twice and throw away. Multiplayer has infinite replay value and it's always something new. Even if it's the same old ****.
I was playing Spec Ops with my friend on veteran. It was hard as **** but doable. I have beaten every COD on Vet except for World at War because I never played it. The key is constant crouching. Take your shots, move fast to the next spot, and stay low.
Before this goes horribly off-topic, maybe we can leave it at this: Single player offers great "experiences", similar to what you'd get from books, movies, etc. Want to be entertained (experience joy, fear, sadness, etc.), then SP is great and likely the only way to get this from a game (well...guess you could laugh/cry from MP...but for other reasons). Also might get to use the deep thinking part of your brain for the games that actually try to use puzzles, as well as any other sort of gameplay mechanic that don't translate well to MP (e.g., stealth, platforming, intense boss fights, although I think some games attempt this in MP). But true, after one playthrough, you'll likely be done. Really hurts games that aren't very long (<10 hours), although fortunately most of them have a MP component to help them out overall. Multiplayer, as mentioned, offers you an infinite amount of "fun", likely more than what the SP could offer (definitely in quantity, but perhaps in quality as well). AI in games in improving, but still no where near the challenge you can get from competitive MP. Never gets old and always offering new challenges. They both offers us some great things. Just depends on what you value more. I prefer SP of course (probably why I wrote more for that category ), but everyone has their own opinion. Apples and oranges for the most part. Kind of like how basketball is way better that baseball. Of course, some games try to do both...even at the same time. Lots of games offering single-player coop, and then you also have something like Demon's Souls.
Has anybody seen the missions they claim may offend some people? Has anybody seen the tactical nuclear kill streak used?
I think the scene that is referring to was leaked online a week or so ago. Haven't played the game, so I can't say for sure. Could offend some people, sure. Definitely a ballsy move (or an attempt to get even more attention, but I'm going to try to assume not). Could try to find a working link (Activision was quick to remove most of them), although I think if you actually have the game, you should play it. I think you can skip it, so if you find it offensive, just do that.
you got it backwards. Multiplayer is basketball baseball is single player in baseball you can just be the pitcher in hoops you can be Tracy McGrady..hahahahhahahahahahaha
Spoiler I think it's one of the airport missions early on in the campaign where you could just lay waste to innocents if you want to.
I'm liking the campaign but I'm afraid its pretty short. I glanced at a walkthrough to get a sense of length and it seems I'm about 70% done and I haven't played that long. I did create a PSN account "VooDooPope" and played 2 free for all games online. I got my ass handed to me. I think I got killed like 35 times in 2 games and had 12-15 kills if I was lucky. I think I'll try again at some point tomorrow.
Without reading this thread, is the game worth it? Everyone keeps talking about it. I don't want it to unleash the addicted online gamer inside of me which took over a couple of years ago and I had to stop.
It depends on what you want in a game...refer to RC's post. If youre looking a strong story with a lengthy SP campaign, and you arent too much into other aspects of gaming (Co-op, multiplayer, etc...), then it may be a great rental for you. I like graphics, a fun SP mode, and teaming up with my friends...so this is definitely a game that is worth it for me. I can play this for another year.
Man after reading some of these post I thought I was the biggest geek here.. Time for me to remove that crown .
So I just realized Im a couple stages away from finishing this game. Total time: 9 hrs 48 min (At least 5 of those hours were spent trying to defeat 2 of the levels on veteran...which I had to eventually switch to normal to be able to get through). Id say the campaign is around 6 hours long on Normal and probably about 8-10 hours long on Hardened. And on Veteran, you will be killed.
after one night of maybe 3 hours of multiplayer play I would say the game is pretty solid. The action itself is as good if not better than its predecessors, and the creativity it allows are much better. Way more freedom with class making etc. Only negative so far...WTF were they thinking making gamechat a requirement for certain game types? I can't mute people fast enough.
