geez ... this reminds me of when we all were upset when HOU didn't:

    - take Lewis, when they had promised to take him with one of our 3 picks
    - trade up to get LAC's pick to take Stoudamire, because we wouldn't include Griffin
    - throw in a draft pick or player to sweeten the Quitten deal to have Oneal added
    - not take Micheal Redd when he was available before he blew up
    - not add a draftpick to get McGrady from TOR
    - not grab Chandler and Duhon when we had a chance

... almost every year, many of us fans "know" a guy is going to turn into something, and we go craZy wishing management would do what it took and pick up emerging talent ... but, once again, I have a feeling we'll be adding this guy's name to the list in a few years ... more "woulda, coulda, shoulda's"

Strange ! Detroit has played 4 summer league games so far and A. Johnson is on the roster but has not played one single minute. Now he could be hurt or he could be "hiding". Makes you wonder.

I knew this thread was a waste of time, when Dumars says he's gonna do something....you better bet he's gonna get it done. He didnt get where he is today on lies and false hope.

Sigh..another possibility bites the dust. And still no word from Rockets HQ. Zip. Nothing about anything. These are trying times we live in.

Nope but he had to pay more and funny how he had to pay more without having an offer sheet involved.

Mods, this thread is now completely pointless, please.......lock er up !

If Detroit is going to pay him an average of $4M/year, then I have to believe that they indeed would have matched any offer. There's not alot that you can do about that.

Nope. Until now, I supported offering Johnson the MLE. Now I see that it would have been fruitless. For all those who think he wouldn't have been worth it, look what at what Dumar's shelling out. He knows what Amir is worth.

    Bummer.

Just curious- if you were the GM - would you pay more than that for Darko?

Not really. I was not that enamored of him because as a player he appears to lack something (drive, attitude?).

I'm surprised- not in shock at what Rashard got. Detroit should have re-signed Billus- at his age - 12 mil per season is not overpaying IMHO. Should we have paid more than Memphis for Darko?-3 year -21 mil.I;m glad we did not pay more than this.

Francis is expected to sign with Clippers for 1 mil this season and 5 mil next-we should have been competitive on this.

Some GM's are overpaying - this happens every time-so maybe not out of the ordinary.

I agree with you DaDa- the Rockets do not seem to be in a risk taking mode
