That is what I think, 7 days is not that big of a deal......there are not that many full MLE guys out there. DD
Well, I see that Memphis just went out and overpaid for Darko so he's now off the board. The PF pickings out there are getting slimmer and slimmer...
Detroit is upagainsttheluxurycap NOW - BEFORE re-signing him. It seems to me, especially if they bring back Webber, they need to jettison some salary - not add.
Deal Not Done Jul 12 - Amir Johnson was expected to join the summer league team in Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon -- an indication a deal was imminent -- but he did not play. The deal is still not done. The Pistons are believed to have offered a three-year deal worth as much as $10 million. It's possible that Bill Duffy, Johnson's agent, might have had interest from another team, maybe San Antonio. But the Pistons have made it clear they will match any offer. -- Detroit News Negotiations opened with a qualifying offer mandated by the league's collective bargaining agreement to be last year's salary plus 125%. Johnson made about $664,000 last season. No doubt, though, Duffy will push for a more lucrative contract, given the Pistons' desire to give Johnson a more meaningful role this season. It's also thought that Johnson's camp will push for a three-year deal, while the Pistons would love to lock him up for five. -- Detroit Free Press Despite Johnson's lack of playing time, his agent, Bill Duffy, wasn't surprised that the 6-foot-9 forward is one of Joe Dumars' top priorities this summer. "It speaks to Joe's ability as a front-office executive, to recognize Amir's potential and talent," Duffy said last week. "Amir's only 20 years old. If he doesn't turn pro out of high school and goes to college and came out (for the draft) this year, he's the No. 3 pick in the draft. I think Joe understands and recognizes just how special Amir is as a player." -- Booth we need to get him and francis just because dallas and san antonio are trying to get them man i am pissed off with rockets managment i hate this crap every year same damn thing if i was mcgrady and yao i would ask for a trade. rockets managment is not helping them out at all
I want a thread, Call Bonzi's Bluff, eat the donut. Really, Amir isn't worth all this publicity, and I am going to put a stop to it right here. I hereby name myself a member of the I don't care if Houston signs Amir Johnson. That is all.
you overreact like this to everything? dallas and san antonio haven't signed anyone. do you know exactly what the rockets have done in regards to either francis or johnson? you have no idea.
where the hell is your idea what they have done better yet show me what they have done in the last 2 to 3 years to make yao and tracy's life eaiser. when we lost to dallas in 7 games we said we needed a pg and a pf what the f%$k are we all saying right now oh yeah guess what else we weren't deep enough and we needed some playmakers so tell me again about this over reacting and having no idea. you have no idea so think about sh$% before you type it
Don't we have to wait 7 days to sign Francis anyway since he just got bought out? Offer Amir, let Detroit see if they want to counter, then go get Francis or whoever else is out there...
Breath in bro. It's normal to have jitters in the offseason and finding FA's gone day by day. While I understand your frustration the past 2-3 years, I attribute much of it to a) Management wanted to see if Mac & Yao could carry a weak team like Kobe and Shaq did...obviously failed, b) JVG was in charge and could never quite figure out an offense to help these guys despite having Bonzi, Novak, and Snyder last year - all of which could have contributed MUCH more than they did. c) we have a new GM and a new coach this year..that changes the whole picture now. Sure we of course have major needs, but Adelman's philosophy alone will help Mac & Yao just as well as adding a 3rd or 4th scorer to the mix.
Amir is D-League Talent...if that gets you excited, then I wonder what a fat chick in spandex does to you.
I guess you have to give management credit for trying... 05' we lose to dallas and going into the offseason it's decided we need a true pg and an athletic pf to compliment 111. what happens... rafer swift ...crash and burn with an injury plagued season 06' it's decided that we need to reduce mcgradys playing time to lower the chance of injury. we trade swift (deemed a bust) and get battier. pf dillema is changed from a need for athleticism to a need for a defender/rebounder. it's decided rafer can be the pg with actual weapons surrounding him, he's given his job. what happens? rafer again... chuck battier another first round exit... 07' after a first round exit at the hands of the Jazz management decides they need a scoring pg and an athletic scoring pf.... ...I mean you can tell they're trying... but I understand the frustration considering we're right back at square 1 from two seasons ago...
There is no indication that the Rockets are after Amir. Time will tell if they are or whether they are looking for a sign and trade. You're right, getting a PF in a sign and trade is going to take more than 7 days. They should go after him.We have very few choices, and he is worth gambling on IMO. If the Rockets have decided not to use the MLE on a PF, then they should use the MLE on the best unrestricted free agent who might be obtainable for it,i.e. Matt Barnes. The MLE should not go wasted even if they get a good PF via sign and trade. We need talent and depth.
