You missed the part of the article where it says that California could save tens of millions if they end executions.
This thread is bizarre. Someone says I think it's cheaper to just kill someone than keep them alive, so the death penalty is good. It turns out that keeping them alive is actually cheaper than the death penalty. People post the evidence that shows it, and that by ending the death penalty it's a savings not cost increase. Despite that people keep repeating that it would be cheaper to just kill the death row inmates and provide no reason why. It's very strange.
