If they are going to refuse to comply, it seems like they can be arrested and the fake boxes seized.

Is this the part where we accuse the whole team because of a few bad players? Sounds like a very Republican thing to do.

Maybe that one ballot collection box per county sounds pretty good after all.

I encourage everyone who feels comfortable to vote in person. This mail in ballot stuff is ripe for abuse. Don't be lazy.

Have they been taken down yet? Have the people behind it been arrested? Not following this one closely. In Georgia don't the residents get off to making citizens arrests? Can they not just do that in Cali? Can the citizens just not take down the fake boxes? What would they be charged with, destroying illegal property? Lulz?

    A few bad players?

    It's the California GOP.

I will give you credit for trying to tie all of this together.

Some of have been taken down, and they are going through the ballots in them and trying to make sure they are valid and get sent to the right place. Luckily in CA we can trace our ballots to see if they've been counted, yet. I voted by mail today.

We’ve made several contributions. When Abbott uncorked his incredibly blatant act of voter suppression with the ballot boxes, we contributed again. Assuming the Plague is under control during the 2022 state elections, we’re going to be very active in booting Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton out on their collective asses. It’s time. Way past time.

Mail in ballots are perfectly safe without any proof of significant fraud until the Republican Party orchestrates a plan to make them unsafe at which point dopey declares maybe the Republicans were right all along. What the ****?

BTW, the phrase is a few bad apples spoils the bunch. Republicans love to use the bad apples phrase to dismiss criticism without completing the entire phrase because then they'd have to admit it SPOILS THE BUNCH.

Back to the article's OP. Republicans lazy AF
The GOP said it was using a 2016 law, passed by Democrats, that the party argues legalized a practice called “ballot harvesting.”

“The Democrat anger is overblown when state law allows organizations, volunteers or campaign workers to collect completed ballots and drop them off at polling places or election offices,” California GOP spokesman Hector Barajas told The Post in an email on Monday. “If Democrats are so concerned with ballot harvesting, they are the ones who wrote the legislation, voted for it, and Governor Jerry Brown signed it into law. California Republicans would be happy to do away with ballot harvesting.”

In some states, ballot harvesting rules allow campaign volunteers to collect ballots door-to-door and return them to be counted on behalf of voters. That practice has been controversial, though legal in many states, over claims that it could lead to more ballots being lost or tampered with. Proponents of the practice argue that ballot harvesting can increase voter turnout and can be a useful solution for people with disabilities, obligations or other obstacles that may keep them from going to the polls themselves.

The California law allows people to hand their ballots over to any designated person, who then delivers the ballot. Under that law, California Democrats have held “ballot parties” where attendees fill out their mail-in ballots and leave them with volunteers who return the ballots en masse. But Republicans in the state often decry ballot harvesting, and the California GOP sued Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) this year over the practice.

Now, the party is using the same law to justify the unofficial ballot boxes, arguing that its boxes are akin to volunteers who collect ballots from voters. “This procedure has been in place since 2016 — not sure why people are all of a sudden surprised,” the California GOP tweeted.

Why is this considered worse than ballot harvesting, which is allowed in California? Seems like it could lead to the same sort of abuse.

Question is answered in the same article. It's ballots aren't being attended, and so on and so forth...

I can't speak for all states but my state allows you to track your mail in ballot. I voted by mail and a few days later on the Secretary of State site they acknowledged it was received, was proper and would be counted. A friend of mine did the same but her's said that it was spoiled and she is requesting a new ballot.

Yep, just go pick them up as illegal - and put them in the trash....save all the ballots that were in there and put them in the mail.

    Job done.
