Until some recent threads, I had a limited range on music compared to you. I can accept being behind and just hope you accept me being behind on some of this stuff.

Earlier I was responding to this:

And I am so ****ing glad you found that Primus video, it's a great one.

And then I said yay you found it, and responded with an even more ridiculous Primus video.

We can, in fact, get weirder from here.

    No problem.

I can discuss the older rock with Deckard, but am fairly limited in more recent decades.

I can hang on the PBS fund drive marathon music productions and Time-Life infomercials peddling old stuff, but this thread is far from my normal listening.

Thank you, I'm going to take this as a compliment, that I am somewhere between @Deckard and KPop.

I do not know much new music at all, sorry, I really wish I did. If you learn things please let me know.

Most of the new stuff I listen to shows up on a https://www.sunradio.com/ station (highly recommended), as I'm driving around the Hill Country.

    It is definitely a compliment.

Don't expect me to to be a promoter of new music in this Forum.

If I ever start a music thread, then something like

    Blues, Covers & Descendants

The Covers will lean to older rock that borrowed from the Blues.

They were such a silly band. Who makes a song like this? It is catchy, though.

Ugh, three bands that I never really got into…I guess I would choose Primus if I had to mainly because I have more stuff by them. I like weird and experimental music like Captain Beefheart, the Residents, Sun Ra, Scott Walker, etc but Primus never clicked for me. I have heard like 2 songs by Presidents and zero songs by Cake.

I have been enjoying the stuff I have been listening to of late in punk and all the offshoots of it like hardcore, post punk, post hardcore, emo, etc.

They're all mediocre, IMO. I know, them's fightin' words, I just have never liked Primus, they're just too weird and 'plunky' on the bass for my tastes. We left the 1993 Lollapalooza show when Primus got on the stage (last) to beat traffic. I did get to see AiC, Front 242, Rage and Tool, which was a definite win.

The thing I remember most about that show was that it was ****ing hot. Why concert planners pick anything past June to do a show in Houston (especially Baytown) is beyond me.

Primus. I liked them as a youth, because the bass "sounded cool" and different. I kind of rediscovered them recently after getting into 70s prog rock, which clearly influenced Primus. I wouldn't necessarily call them prog, but they're definitely adjacent. I'm seeing them in concert in a few weeks performing Rush's A Farewell to Kings plus their own stuff. And that bass still hits hard.

Cake, I never really got into them other than The Distance, which I still love. I don't think I've ever delve into any of their albums.. Skeptical their style could really hold my interest song after song. Maybe, I'll look into them again.

Presidents of the USA probably just came around for me at the right age, before I was too old and jaded. I still think back on them fondly.

I can’t wait for @Xerobull ’s next music thread. Greatest rock band ever? Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, or Twisted Sister.

They’re just different. The musicianship of Primus compared to the others is night and day. Primus rocks a little harder, and more technical.

Cake is fun and more of a chill listen for me.

I just don’t dig POTUS at all. For me, there is nothing that moves me in the least with them.

Primus live was pretty damn incredible.

I discovered Primus watching the scrambled pay-per-view feed of Woodstock 94, where you could barely make out the video, but the audio came in clear.

Never heard anything from Primus and while I loved Presidents (bought their cassette at the Circuit City near Greenspoint mall), "The Distance" is still a banger.
