These guys don’t care. They get paid first then they move around like harden and Lillard to try and win a championship.
He's worth like $20M. $40M is bonkers. WTH are they thinking? The more I see contracts like this the more I respect Stone. That kind of money should be reserved for Top tier players not dudes who are just coming off of Rookie contracts and haven't even sniffed the playoffs.
I had the same initial reaction as you, but it makes sense because revenue inflation (i.e, cap inflation) equals salary inflation for the players. 10% each year for a very long while. In other words: You ain't seen nothin' yet, it's just getting started.
**** no. And I'm totally out on Jalen but at least Jalen doesn't set your franchise back a decade unlike Dollar General Luka. Cade doesn't do anything well and he isn't athletic to make up for it. Slow game processor, inefficient and you are forced to build your team around him.
His situation is soooooooo bad though, WAY worse coaching, WAY worse teammates. I agree he's been a bust so far but i do think he still has a chance to be pretty good. There's nothing in detroit to set back though, they have absolutely nothing except for him. 2nd half last season he did shoot 40% from 3 and only had a -0.7 net rating on a team that was a complete joke.
He looked good to me. He constantly kept pushing the ball and finding open teammates, not his fault his teammates are brickstars.
Last season, Cunningham scored more points, dished out more assists with much worse teammates than Green, at almost identical efficiency. I think Cade did better than Jalen overall in their third season. And he missed almost all of his second season to injury. Cade has a higher floor while Jalen has a higher ceiling. This season will likely determine who is going to be the better player.
They should have given him a Zion type contract extension where he gets a max, but if he misses a certain number of games, then he needs to requalify to be guaranteed each season and if he has the same injury then he has to requalify to be guaranteed. I think giving him 2 years guaranteed and an opportunity to earn more guaranteed years would have made more sense.
Cade didn't have a fair shake and people underrated him. He played on one of the most terrible team in all his career and had to deal with injuries. He could still turn out to be the second best player in his draft class.
