the Pistons are 2-14 in the games Cade has missed not saying that Cade deserves ROY because he doesn’t, just that the Pistons are not just as bad with him as without him…he has a clear positive impact, it’s just not enough when the roster is that barren they are on a 25 win pace in the games Cade has played in…still trash, but that’s still a 5 win difference, and they have looked somewhat promising as the season comes to an end going 8-12 in their past 20 with many close and competitive losses
Cunningham is going to be very good. He already can create for others, he is a good rebounder and has a high aptitude for the game. I wouldn't be shocked if he becomes an All NBA type player. He just isn't as deserving for ROY to me. The free throw issue is a concern, you almost have to get to the line a lot to be elite offensively. David Thorpe has said he thinks some of it is because Cunningham isn't an elite athlete so he is fouled lot. I think that Cunningham will get better at getting to the line. He may never be Harden getting to the line, but he can eventually get a half dozen attempts a game.
I think he will be similar to Tatum in the sense that he’ll probably never manage more than 5-6 fta/game which will ultimately prevent him from becoming a 60+% TS type of player I can see 57-58% TS for Cade as he improves his finishing at the basket, starts to draw more fouls, and improves his shooting 24-25 points, 7-8 boards, 7-8 assists on 46/36/84 splits, 57-58% TS, and solid defense is my prediction for prime Cade as for ROY, he should be 3rd behind Mobley and Barnes…Cavs and Raptors are playoff teams, they have the numbers both traditional and advanced, and Cade started off too atrociously…his horrible play to start the year is still depressing his shooting numbers, that’s how bad it was…it took him awhile just to reach 40% from the field
Cade with 34 points and 6 assists tonight against Brooklyn I’ve seen Pistons fans say that the plan is to trade Jerami Grant for cap space and then sign Brunson and Mitchell Robinson Brunson Cade Bey Chet/Jabari/Paolo Robinson that’s a really interesting team
Some context... Cade was 2 of 6 with 5 points with 3:27 left in the third. He finished 13 of 24 with 34 points, and none of it was garbage time.
Cade really struggles to beat his man off the dribble one on one and get to the basket in iso situations. I see him not getting the separation and going to his pull up a lot. We’ll see how that develops over time. BUT When that man gets a pick or screen and can get you on his hip and get downhill he’s hella dangerous. Great game tonight. He can beat you scoring and passing.
I think Cade will be great and make all star games. I just don't believe it will be easy to build a contender around him. He fits the mold of being a "heliocentric" player. He is ball dominant and in charge of scoring + running the entire offense. We saw how hard it was to build a great team around James Harden. Luka Doncic looks like a superhero but the Mavs offense seems to get figured out by the end of a series. Lebron James is the special case and the only player of that archetype that has won a championship in a while. Other recent champions featured KD, Steph, Giannis, Kawhi, Dirk, Kobe, Pau, Tim Duncan.
We were so close to getting this dude but I am pretty happy with jalen. I think everyone in the top 4 loves their pick
What makes you think Cade fits the mode of a heliocentric player? Examples of such players are Harden, 2016-2020 Westbrook, Wall, Trae, Luka, & certain seasons of Dame. What these players have in common is that they all dominated the ball for over 8 minutes and at times over 9 minutes on offense (few other players have avg over 7 minutes). This overwhelming control of the offense leads to a ton of shots and assists as they are the 1st and second option of nearly every offensive possession and the only driver of the offense. Cade in his rookie season is avg only 5.8 minutes with the ball (on a team with few other above average offensive players or ball-handler). This is less than Haliburton, Maxey, Fox, LaMelo, Cole, Donovan, Dejounte, FVF, Reggie Jackson and many other guards. Cade's shots attempts per game is only 16 in 32 minutes and his usage rate is only 27%.
Cade is not a heliocentric player…he’s running everything for Detroit because their other guard is Killian Hayes who is probably a bottom 5 player in the NBA Cade can easily just be a secondary playmaker he plays off-ball a decent amount as well
Cade Cunningham is averaging 22, 7, and 6 on 46/31/82 shooting splits since the ASB can’t wait to see him and Jalen Green matchup next season after a summer of working on their game
u clearly do…hop off my nuts kid, your stalking and desperate attempts for my attention got beyond weird long ago I live rent free in this random troll’s head
Cade should be rookie of the year. Mobley was better early on - Cade has been better the last couple of months. And Cade plays a much bigger role with much worse teammates. This draft man - you could easily form a team out of the draft picks that should be contending for a title in a year or two…
