can we get a LonghornFan humor ruling on this? not sure we can objectively determine how funny it is without his guidance.

I'll pull a longhorn fan on this one, I thought it was funny (and Rash did a great Woody) but could have been so much better if they would have had the gibberish be some nonsensical type of thing that Kohl would say (about some random subject) rather than it be actual gibberish.

Well up until they explained that he'd died from a drug overdose, I thought Rev. Tuttle was the Yellow King. His family is most definitely a part of this secret order however. And Cohle's father-in-law could be as well. I recall that during the Reggie LeDoux takedown, I noticed that he did not have a spiral tattoo on his shoulder so I knew he wasn't the Yellow King. But I was left wondering what he was doing with the two children. Then when Hart found those photos of the pagan ceremony and the video tape, I realized that LeDoux was the one kidnapping the children for the Yellow King. Whatever it is, this secret order is powerful and deadly - they were able to reach into a jail cell and kill a man and my gut is telling me that Hart & Cohle won't make it out of this alive.

    I thought of that, too.

    And it's the likelier scenario.

If she's the decent person the show is otherwise giving us, she could have just revenge-f'd the stranger in the bar and not dragged down who she describes as "a good man".

Then again, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Although I'm in your head, I'm not paying rent.

The spoof by the Soup was pretty funny though. You are allowed to laugh at that one, boy.

I could see the Hart/daughter plot growing to epic proportions on Sunday. Hart, doing the right thing for once, finally paying attention to the problems of others, does his daughter and Maggie a solid of some sort by solving the case and gets redemption for his mistakes. Maybe even gets his daughter's love back. Whatever.

Rust maybe sees that whole thing playing out or at least coming. Dies happy knowing Hart got his daughter back since he never could.

I think we will learn in the final episode that both their daughters (Hart's and Cohle's) were in some way victims of the 5 men. Cohle already knows or suspects this and this is why he is such a maniac about investigating the case. Hart doesn't have a clue, but will find out in the next episode. Speculation of how it could play out: Hart finds out his father did it, kills him in a shoot-out, would get hit by bullet, but Cohle takes it for him.

Cohle's daughter died in Texas I'm pretty sure. A bit of a stretch.

^ So Ziggy is saying he doesn't think there will be zombies in the last episode? SMH. Why would you limit the genius of this directing/writing team like that?

Here's the preview to the final episode.

Looks like the lawnmower guy captures and tortures Cohle? The guy tied to the bed is too skinny to be Hart. Who is the sniper guy? Whom is he aiming at? It's not Hart or Cohle.

The sniper guy is the owner of the bar Cohle works at. He was shown in episode 7 and Cohle mentioned his son has been missing since the 80's.

Could the "Yellow King" be the sun? And the 5 (or more) crazies are some kind of sun worshippers (not in the beach bum way, lol).

She threw herself at Rust because that is what would hurt Marty most. Also, eye for an eye... he cheated (several times) so she cheated to make it even. She just happened to do it with the one dude she knew Marty wouldn't be able to overlook.

Her sitting at the coffee table all too eager to tell him proves that in my eyes.

53 minutes. I have faith that it'll be an action-packed episode that answers the important questions... but leave a lot of the fan-created hoopla in limbo. Thus keeping people talking about it for weeks and years to come.

I can't tell for sure, but the guy on the bed doesn't seem to have a tattoo on his right arm, so maybe not Cohle? Who else could it be? And who is the guy in the clown outfit standing next to the guy in the crosshairs? And who is the guy in the crosshairs? And this isn't Maggie's mom that is being questioned by Hart, is it? Questions, questions...

Another question - I will be in LA on Sunday, have to take a late flight, but will have checked out of my hotel already. Where will I be able to watch it? It's 9 p.m. ET, so 6 p.m. in LA, right? Is this going to be watchable in some bar?

I fear people will be disappointed no matter what. It's got so much build-up and excitement that it just can't possibly be satisfying to most people in 53 minutes.
